Drop off and drive away Join or coordinate a small group to go have a cold beer Do NOT walk the sidelines wringing your hands in speculation that your player is doing great/has blown it
This applies for U9 through U19 - save yourself the ulcer - drop and leave! Trust me - this will be my eighth year of this craziness. Come join me for a cold one. As my dear friend the greatest referee in GA told me way back in 2008 when we started down this road of youth soccer, " chill out, you ain't nothing but the checkbook and the ride!" Translation - this is your kid's childhood- get out of it!
There's a cold beer waiting for you. Come on by!
Best of luck this week and next to all players trying out!

I prefer to go stand out on the field with the coach and talk to him during tryouts. Better view.

I prefer to go stand out on the field with the coach and talk to him during tryouts. Better view. At the end of our tryouts yesterday (U10) coach had to remind parents that their boys were big kids and they can fetch their own water lol He also said that the parking lot was very big and people could walk it for exercise *hint hint* During tryouts I like to work very hard.... on beating the next level of candy crush.....

And for the record, I am not a lush - will most likely be walking or headed to the nearest LA Fitness during that time. We just had a fun group two years ago and conveniently found a mexican restaurant with amazing margaritas nearby. Made for a much more relaxed tryout environment.
One more suggestion -after a particularly hard tryout year last year, I took my kid to six flags for the day and we rode roller coasters until we practically puked. I called in PTO for a half day and we took off. It's our new tradition - phone stays in the car so no soccer texting, calls or emails - just me, the kid and Goliath! WHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
Highly recommend that or something non-soccer related for the day after as you wait for those calls.

I have to figure out which field to walk around - I'm leaning towards my son's tryout since I have missed EVERYONE of his. It's my husband's turn to take my daughter!

I volunteer at the club, assisting with questions and helping with checkins. I may catch the last 15 mins of tryouts but stay far away. It's up to the players to earn a spot. Nothing a parent can do at that point and no reason to try and inject yourself into the process....unless you have a brown envelope full of cash for the coach as Soccerhouse suggested. Lol

I watched and chatted with other parents about various random things. My youngest is u10 now a2nd those kids are fun to watch. Had over 20 girls show up for that age which is great for the club as they could only field one team of u9 girls last year.

Forgot to add that I also have a u15 girl. I think I will work late on her tryout days next week. Way too stressful...for her and me.

Good luck everyone! As much as I disliked this time of year I am missing it now that there are no more tryouts.

The coach may notice some chemistry between the girls if they know and like one another so maybe. so are you moving clubs or just trying for another level team?

What age? I wouldn't say the players themselves could influence the coach. Presuming the girls she knows are some of the core/impact players on that team, if she can stick with them at tryouts and play well with them, she will get noticed for sure. I watch to see how new players assimilate with players I'm familiar with, especially the impact players on the team.
