Any news about the AGM today?? Was it a throw down battle royale like last year?

Quick, quiet. Not much fuss, not much discussion. Most rule changes and other votes either passed or failed convincingly. I remember only one vote where there were a smattering of "Yeas" followed by a convincing chorus of "Nays". All of the others were pretty much unanimous one way or the other. The electronic voting fobs were only used once and that was to make sure we still had a quorum after a 5 minute break in the General meeting.

All proposed rule changes passed with the following exceptions:
230.1d - This would have allowed grade 9 referees to be official AR's on U16 and U19 recreation games. It was withdrawn.
230.6 - This put all of the different referee requirements for recreation programs in an easy to read table form but it was also withdrawn before being brought to the floor, probably because it also allowed Grade 9 referees on older recreation games.
440.1 - Strongly recommending that U12 Academy scores are reported in Soccer in College to facilitate the seeding of teams for U13 was defeated.
530.1 - Changing the number of players on U4, U6 and U8 teams was defeated. (What the heck is a U4 team anyway? At my association the U4 program consists of getting the kids out there once a week, going through a few very basic, fun exercises and then playing a pickup "game" to let off a little steam at the end. There are no teams!)
740.1h - Adding language to the rule that states that penalty points accrued due to forfeiting a game would only apply if a team INTENTIONALLY did not show up for a game was defeated. Not because they disagreed with the principle, but because they did not like the wording used.
For new associations, all who applied were admitted at a recreation only level. A few got waivers for Academy or even select, but not all waivers were granted.
Several current Youth associations added Adult programs.
The one By-law change that was put forward was withdrawn.
Steve Keiss, the new VP-Youth did a good job of keeping the youth meeting flowing as did Susanne Conlon, the new President for the general meeting.
