I recall someone mentioning that TN clubs may do their own thing and possibly withdraw from SRPL.

That would be a huge hit to RPL as Tennessee SC, Nashville FC, and FC alliance have some quality teams.
But RPL also needs to re-invent itself, because having teams drive 7 hours to Florida to play 3 games, where 2 of the games are against Atlanta teams is absolutely foolish. I also am not sure if limiting the top group to 8 teams makes sense, having teams only play 7 games in my opinion is not enough.
Also the entire RPL and first division thing doesn't seem to work and teams that don't win a game in RPL should not be able to retain an RPL spot regardless of what division they play. For example if you were an RPL team in the top group and you didn't win a game, nor did you do well at state cup, I don't believe your spot should be kept.

It sounds like they may be abandoning USYSA State Cup play, but not sure. I also fully anticipate that this will lead to an extension of girls' ECNL league play in a year through integration of NPL teams into ECNL regions (just like they plan on doing with on the boys side. TN is a good club, FC Alliance is weak across the board, not sure about Nashville (have never played them) I do agree about the whole relegation thing, I guess we will see what happens. In order for the new league to work, more than just 3 clubs need to participate though, I know it said on there that if any club wanted to participate they could apply but haven't heard much else. I guess we just wait and see what happens. Honestly to not be part of the state league or ECNL, I'm not sure what you're offering to your players? A fresh new league with no real affiliation won't have much competition. TN plans on remaining part of the state league -- from their page: "Tennessee Soccer Club will remain a member of TN State Soccer and US Youth Soccer. The VSL is intended to provide additional league opportunities to the club."

VSL looks to be an addition to not a replacement of TN State Cup and R3PL programs.

I think it is a matter of what teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are primarily participating in what competitions. I just do not seem much that provides clarification.
