His open cup run with the California team was pretty crazy.
The silverbacks wins were insane. Dude beat 2 mls teams with a bunch of randoms that nobody else wanted to identified.

I wish this guy coached our men's national team. Bahahaha did he actually say he "coached" the silverbacks? That must have been quite the telecommute from Europe and LA since that's where Fox had him a majority of time. Go ask the players that were with the team then, half of them never saw him actually on the field running a session let alone coach. Wynalda would be a horrible coach, he's just like Lalas that wants to whine instead of work. JK was doing the best he could with a broken system. Hell why don't we let Jill Ellis just run the Men'a program...

Not really interested in the JK discussion. It didn't work out.
It's an interesting listen and actually pretty inciteful about how EW would pick and manage a team. Turning a terrible Silverbacks team into spring champions should be ignored I suppose, must have been a coincidence. Beating MLS teams in Open Cup with a bunch of amateurs, likewise unworthy.

Wynalda has too short of an attentions span to be a coach for the long term. Those short term projects he undertook were perfect for him. But he is the kind of guy you need to keep around to infuse discussions with fresh ideas, to keep people honest, to shake the cage of the establishment. I would put him on the payroll in an advisory capacity for sure.
