For those of you with kids in AP or Honors classes, does your son or daughter share their weighted GPA with colleges or non-weighted?
Thanks,

Weighted GPA and first. Some schools only want non weighted for core courses only. Our team handout is weighted. Gives the ciaches a feel for rigor seeing GPAs above 4.0
But test scores matter more. First questions coaches have asked is whats your SAT or ACT

Most colleges want non weighted GPAs. They also want to see a transcript that has advanced coursework like AP. This indicates the student has the ability and drive to succeed at the college level. Agree with other respondent, SAT and ACT scores are important. Colleges can supplement soccer monies with academic monies.

But test scores matter more. First questions coaches have asked is whats your SAT or ACT How high SAT/ACT are they looking for? NCAA eligibility website does a sliding scale - lower the GPA - higher the SAT/ACT needs to be. For us - the higher the SAT/ACT means more academic money to supplement the package - coach wants us to get that academic scholarship first then he'll fill in with athletic. Lots of schools do this - D1 and D2. But average - for SAT is about 1100 guarantees academic $. Get above a 1200 and you're really doing well. Not sure about the ACT numbers. One last piece of advice - know your student - ACT has more geometry so if you have a Language Arts/Social Studies kid, go SAT - if you have the Math/Science kid - go ACT. And find out if the schools they are interested in take the super scores (highest sections of both tests) - many do not.

Agree - once you get to the actual application part, schools want that non weighted GPA. We are a year away from that so our players give their weighted GPA and include the rigor classes in the bio write up on the handout. But when push comes to shove, that transcript is the 'bible' on the application.
