Here's an article from SoccerWire detailing the introduction of the new U15 age group. The basic gist of the article is that, as we know, the U15 age will be a single age team for the 2003 birth year. The decision of US Soccer is that all of the clubs currently participating in the U16 and U18 (soon to be U17 and U19) split ages will also partake in the U15 competition. In addition, 6 clubs have been "promoted" into the U15 age group based off of a bunch of coaching and development metrics. They are: Albion SC – San Diego, Calif. Armada FC Pro Academy – Jacksonville, Fla. Ballistic United SC – Pleasanton, Calif. Cedar Stars Academy – Carlstadt, N.J. New York Soccer Club – Chappaqua, N.Y. Virginia Development Academy – Woodbridge, Va. For Georgia, this leaves only Atlanta United and Concorde Fire at the U15 age group for next 2017-18, barring any new DA clubs being admitted. What this also means is that, since the only players at Georgia United currently are 02s and 03s, ALL of the current Georgia United players will be forced to move on at the conclusion of this season, not just the 02s. You all are opinionated people so I'd love to see your thoughts on this.

The trully sad part is that the GA United 02s are easily the best team in the city by a long shot. Atlanta United and Concorde aren't even close.
edit : and don't forget about new applications. I know there was interest in GA United bringing back the older age group, but I also know that the alliance clubs applied seperately, so its still up in the air. Should be an interesting feb....

Let's not get confused the the nomenclature. U. S. Soccer is funny--it puts out this big announcement about a "new U15" single age group, when what it really is doing is changing the names of the age groups and adding another age group at the lowest ages. The new "U15" is really the old (current) U14, which is already a stand alone age group, and they added a U11/U12 (current U12 age group will be known as U13 from now on).
I am sure that they will not take that age group away from Georgia United. GU will still have U14 and U15, and may get the two older age groups as well.

Excuse my ignorance as I have not had a chance to look into this. So in the world of DA, we currently have the following:
2004/U12 - AU/CF/UFA/SSA/NASA/LSA/AFC 2003/U13 - AU/CF/GA.United 2002/U14 - AU/CF/GA.United 2001-2000/ U16 - AU/CF 1999-1998/U18 - AU/CF
Based on some of the comments on this forum it looks like some clubs are trying to expand beyond their current age groups. What are the new age groups going to be for next season???
2006/U12 2005/U13 2004/U14 2003/U15 2002/U16 2001/U17 2000/U18 1999/U19
Thanks for your answers.

Will be 2006 - u12 2005 - u13 2004 - u14
2003 - u15 2002/2001 u16/u17 2000/1999 u18/u19
The u15 teams will be with clubs that have the older age groups not the younger only age groups. A lot will change when we get the word about new applications

Why would you want an 06 player, even 05 player not to be able to play ODP/ guest play?? At 06, only being allowed to play 26 games a season is crazy to me.

I concur, I believe if you are good enough to make a DA team and ODP you are lucky enough to get even more touches on the ball and hopefully play with high level players to increase your soccer IQ. Both are run by US Soccer I believe, so why not merge training regimens to complement each other.

I'm not sure how ODP will be able to continue at the younger ages. if anything, Georgia Soccer should have done the 2006s this year given next year the vast majority of top players will be playing u12 DA.
How does the current 05 group look?
