Spot on with many of your thoughts and comments... I also hear one revolving issue is the lack of trust. Individually, the boys can play, however as a team they don't trust each other and don't work together as a team. Sounds like "team building" should have been a top to delve into. Me thinks team building workshops and events to get them to gel as a team or replace the hot shots and lone wolves...

Something aint' right -- that's all I say. Sounds like the players are getting the blame for it also. But neither the 14s or 13s look like they are coached. Maybe the players aren't responding, but forgive my statement, but they look like a team coached from Concorde south. Sorry for saying that, but that is the style of play I've seen from them. Players in the u13 game looked lost. Even their perceived top talent. Man for man, Ga united was the better deeper squad and played some nice soccer.
Shocking is all I'll say. The Gawdess herself has stated that team is being blown up, I don't doubt it. Honestly, even their national team players didn't look impressive (sorry for stating this). Besides the 2 that played with the 14s, I could see the entire roster minus 1 or 2 players cut. It hasn't looked like any of them have gotten better.
We were watching the u13s warm up, and It was a little surprising. Why -- because they didn't warm up. They were standing in the shade during the entire u14 game, there coach was no where in site. Then they waited until the 14s ended to start getting loose. And when i say getting loose, they just stood around on the pitch, half ass stretching etc. Coach was off on the distance not even paying attention. Meanwhile ga united was playing rondo's, 4v4, passing, moving etc. It was very surprising. I'd expect a standard that would trickle down from the first team and the 18s.
yes, lots of this summary is from this one game, however, I've seen these teams play at least 5-6 times, and it was the same results and observations. Just look at the spring for the 13s, they have gotten worse every week. While Ga United has gotten better and better as the season matured.

Clearly much more attention this year for atlanta united -- 3 tryout sessions for the 2006s, and technically 3 for the 2005s including the Dallas IDs session. I like the idea of invite only after each one also. It appears they have done more homework this year on the player pool and my guess is even though some will not say this, they have spoken to DOCs and coaches about players.

I think it was unrealistic to expect them to get it exactly right in year one at every age group, and with players that young it's hard to predict much about their performance from a 2-day tryout. For the club's immediate future, it was much more important to get the selections right in the older teams, which they clearly did.
Now they've had a full year to scout whomever both in the state and throughout the Southeast, so player selection shouldn't be an excuse. We'll get to see if the struggles are truly down to coaching.

Just looking at the USSDA game report from the website, it looks like AU used 3 of their national team '03s in the 02 game. Can anyone who was at the match ( guerillaman) confirm that? Those reports aren't always correct.
