I was told that announcement will be made today and its an alliance with another ECNL club. Cherokee will basically supply players to them to play as "Discovery Players"
This will make tryouts even more interesting this week!

That is a different scenario from a fifth ECNL club in the ATL. That would be a reach (until they go to divisions with promotion/relegation). That is not much of a carrot for Impact but it is something I suppose. You only get 2 Discovery players per age group until U18/19. Also, this usually means the player is playing for two teams; in this case Impact and the ECNL squad. If they do it this way, that ends up being a lot of games in the Fall. The ECNL club obviously sees the need to increase the available talent pool; probably a good call and a creative solution.

That doesn't make sense to me....what does Cherokee get out of it? ECNL clubs can get discovery players from anywhere without an official partner. No matter how you spin it, Cherokee ultimately will lose in this scenerio. Unless I'm missing something.

If done properly its the best of both worlds for the impact top players. They can DP with an ecnl team and then also play with their regular side when necessary. Determining the primary team gets tricky, when their are player conflicts etc.

I'm not very familiar with the DP rules but I thought players couldn't DP for an ECNL club in their area (their state?). There were some Columbus players playing for their Columbus Red Star team and also ECNL out of Florida or Birmingham but I didn't think they could DP for Atlanta ECNL teams. Maybe I'm wrong though. If Cherokee players can stay with their local team but get the exposure of ECNL, that might be a good thing (if they're ok with the crazy number of games that would involve!). Cherokee gets to keep their talent but the girls get more exposure.

FC Alliance and CSA Impact SC Announce Partnership!
Longtime friends are new partners. FC Alliance’s recent admission to Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) has meant the club is building the strongest rosters possible to be competitive in a league featuring the nation’s top clubs.
Enter help from a friend. CSA Impact has agreed to supply players to each of FC Alliance’s ECNL squads. The players will carry ECNL’s “Discovery Players” designation, meaning they will play ECNL events with FC Alliance while remaining rostered with their own teams. It is a winning scenario for both organizations: it strengthens the FC Alliance rosters and it gives CSA Impact players the chance to play ECNL without leaving their club.
Logistics will be a factor as FC Alliance is based in Knoxville and CSA Impact is in Atlanta. To make training logistically functional, CSA will run ECNL training sessions weekly at their fields to lessen travel requirements for players.
“This is really exciting for our club,” said FC Alliance Director of Coaching Josh Gray. “CSA Impact is an outstanding club with a lot of excellent players; this will make our rosters stronger and give more players in the region a chance to compete in ECNL.” Cherokee Impact Technical Director Alex Pama agreed: “I think it’s wonderful that we have added this opportunity for our players. FC Alliance and Impact share a lot of similarities both on and off the field. The fact that we can offer this level of play is great; this way our kids get the best of both worlds.”
Potential ECNL candidates will be referred to FC Alliance coaches by the corresponding Cherokee Impact coach. From there, the clubs will organize a tryout for nominated players.
“Players from both organizations have guest played with each other in the past in various events,” said CSA Impact Executive Director Shane Moore. “The CSA and FCA coaches know each other, and respect each other's developmental standards. This integration was seamless. Now the partnership will be expanded.”

Perfect timing for tryouts if you ask me. The low numbers at tryouts for the younger groups a week before might have something to do with it. We all know DA and ECNL in GA had something to do with the low numbers at the smaller clubs. So, who knows how many players will get the opportunity to play ECNL from Impact? The page is down at FC Alliance so where is it posted on Impact?

I find it interesting that for FC Alliance you only have two days of tryouts and they give you at least one day of rest in-between tryout days. However, you also have to pay $50 to tryout. I wonder if that is common outside of Atlanta or an anomaly. I like the idea of only two days of tryouts and a rest day, but would a tryout fee ever work in Metro Atlanta? fcallianceknox.org/tryout-information

I thought it seemed odd as the plan was described but now it looks more like a Smoke and mirrors to get more interest for tryouts like mentioned above. That or FC Alliance trying to expand into GA and take over Impact at some point. Now that there's no info on either clubs page, I'm thinking it was all smoke.

I think its $10 to cover cost of a tryout tshirt The FC Alliance/Cherokee thing is real. whether or not it has clout will remain to be seen.

Also, FC Alliance Boys play NPL so why didn't the two clubs agree to that as well? NPL and ECNL both are US Club Soccer, so not sure what the plan is/was for just GIRLS. I know FC Alliance teams play a lot of GA tournaments due to the Better competition in GA. 😃

Im not sure it adds any value to FC Alliance incorporating Impact unless they have future plans of moving into Ga area. It "should" be a value for Impact, but there's zero marketing value if you're not advertising this. Agree it will be interesting to see if they actually use any Impact players for the FC ecnl teams, seems like a long shot, if any.
