UFA - turf fields so no muddy mess, thankfully. About 70 kids for my nephew's 2004 age group. The rest were invite only I believe. Recognized some CF and AU boys, tough to decide since all the boys looked good. Technical Director spoke with boys and parents and reiterated the need for making sure all the boys also attend regular Select tryouts(just in case). From talking to some parents, some boys have been offered spots from the current U12 DA team.

Concorde 04's had a great turn out. 4 fields. Pretty much broken down DA pool, ECNL pool and then the rest. Easy 100+. Towards end clearly took notice of kids on bench who selected for DA. About 14 kids so far. Be interesting to see what "new" players show up on 2nd day.

Still don't understand how CF pulls it off. Those fields at Central, when not wet, are still not great.

who cares about the fields, is it just me? I have lived in Brazil and if not in farm league you are pretty much playing on dirt. Some dont even have soccer shoes. Still high level play.
A soccer field is not going to develop a player. If you choose a club because of a field i think you have the wrong mind set. I can understand if the fields have potholes or very uneven because of higher injury risk.
We have played on way worse fields... even UFA overflow field was horrible, SSA's curved fields, GSA's dirt field, and the list goes on..

My concern about fields is more about practices getting canceled all the time, or having so few fields that the teams always have to practice in tiny spaces. Is Concorde gaining more field space? UFA has been getting more, and many of their existing ones have been turned to turf so cancellations are rare.

Never been an issue in 4 years with the club that I have experienced. We didnt miss one practice due to rain this past year. Always had backup locations that the team secured through fundraising. We have always had a half to a full 11v11 field to train on. Maybe shared with one other team. The fields in the North are some of the best we have played on. Ocee fields are amazing. Abbotts are amazing. Shakerag SUCKS.
So i guess its how you see it. Does Concorde needs more fields, yes without a doubt. If you run your team like a business, you can make the experience smooth. Our team raised over $6000 in 2 weeks. (one fundraiser). This covered all indoor (rainouts), Disney, Party, Futsal Tournament for both Fall and Spring.
So all in all if you have a good team manager and willing parents, you can make the experience really worth while.

I have a friend whose son played DA at CF and complained about the fields every week. They moved practices all over the place, practices in corners of baseball fields and any kind of rain meant no practice. The issue is that it should be smooth like your team was across the board

In my experience the general "willingness" of parents is related to the number of players who pay nothing. That's a toxic situation. Edit: I think a club that leaves it up to the team to fund it's own practice facilities is not doing a good job at all.

Ok this is how you do it.
Yankee Candle with prizes awarded Top 1-3 plus cash prize for top 1-2.
We predetermined that it will cost around $300 extra per player for the season. This covers tournament fees, rain-out sessions, coaches exp etc...
We gave the option to fundraise to offset the cost. Some raised way more, some raised 50%, and some didnt want to do it. The awards helped big time. We met with parents during team camp and said we didnt want to keep asking for money throughout the season so we worked out the numbers and its estimated that it will be such and such amount. We are doing the fundraiser before season starts (this also helps cause school fundraisers havent started yet). By the time of our first game we had raised over $7k but with the prizes and ship fees it was around $6k.
I made a case study and submitted to the club to follow. All in all you can fully fund each team.

its a process to get set up. When you have a Kroger card you can login into your account and select which non profit you would like the money to go to. Very similar to adding coupons to your card so you dont have to clip coupons. Then every time you use the card a small % goes to that non-profit. Here is a link to the program. www.kroger.com/topic/kroger-community-rewards-3

They have MORE THAN ENOUGH money to secure fields. Trust me.

Not saying they don't. Im sure my son will be out of youth soccer before they do secure some. Do i think its a waste of money...yeah sometimes. But we also didnt miss a training session so it benefited my sons (and others) development plus I wasnt out of pocket.
If football boosters and PTA can raise funds then so can a team. Its really not that hard. I have a whole list of ones that I have done with teams and very successful.

We have played on way worse fields... even UFA overflow field was horrible, SSA's curved fields, GSA's dirt field, and the list goes on.. I hear you that fields by themselves are not as important as say coaches, club philosophy, coaching style, etc. However, we can all agree that those that don't have good fields, soccer kits, boots, etc it isn't by choice. Personally from my experience, it makes the kids hungry because of their pure love of the game. In this situation though we pay or fundraise to have our kids at the top clubs. In addition to all the other necessities and requirements, having good fields and having good rain-out options does make a difference. Those are the intangibles that make your experience at a club a little better or a little worse. I too have always been curious that CF doesn't have a "home" UFA, SSA, NASA, GSA, Dacula, etc. They are all associated with a particular park, field, location but not CF. I hear even for DA CF is moving to play on the southside of town.

Futsal you are absolutely right. I'm really waiting for a true club. A club that "owns" the land. Has a club house w kitchen, bar etc... How the premier league started. Everyone is part of the family.
But I get it. It would be nice to have a centralize location. The main HQ.
That wouldn't surprise me at all. We had several games played there this season. Not too bad of drive. SSA and AFC games are about the same distance for most.
