Interestingly, when asked about the younger teams, TA highlight the 03 team that struggled this spring and cut over 1/2 the kids. Team was very poorly coached, it was obvious. Seems odd to highlight this group doesn't it, when you are bringing in a ton of kids from out of state vs developing the current players given its a process...?

I didnt watch the 03's so I can't comment on it.
As for the 04's I was able to watch it. United had about 65-70% (maybe more) possession and a nice style of play. They also had over 10-15 shots which all missed. UFA I'm sure wants to play a different style then what they did this past weekend. Lots of boom ball which wasnt really fun to watch but did catch United off guard in the first 5 mins.
Should be a good match up once season starts.

On the 2003s, I wold say both teams were evenly matched. Don't have a dog in that match so don't know much about the inner workings. Could be a completely different team once the season begins.
Fair warning, I have a dog on both sides of the 2004s for UFA and AU. I should also start with these were pre-season warmup games and a chance for both sets of coaches to see what they have and how the boys play in a live game as opposed to scrimmaging each other in practice(discussions with both coaches). With that said, I have to disagree that UFA played boom ball. It's just not in the DNA of the club. UFA is very stringent about playing out of the back and pinging the ball. The mids for UFA have to be quicker in releasing the ball but they were definitely doing more feeding that booming. With AU the boys did a good job moving the ball but just couldn't finish. The backline for UFA needs to gel and communicate better. The AU goal keeper definitely saved the day. He had a few saves that would more than likely have gone in otherwise. It's hard to judge who was the better team. AU didn't have their normal line-up, while most of the UFA boys are new to the team, so it will take some time for them to gel with the core that was retained. I'm guessing after this up-coming weekend, where both teams will be playing in showcases in Charlotte, a lot of their errors will be ironed out. However, I'll reiterate, what most others have said. It's a pre-season friendly.
Should be a good season for both teams.

No Showcase. Just pre season friendlies.
Showcase is in end of Oct which all DA will be going to.

The unfortunate flaw with DA at u12 to u14, the entire year is essentially friendlies. Even the showcase is a friendly with shortened games on the first day.

What showcase is being played in Charlotte for the ufa and au da teams? No showcase, more like friendlies. AU plays Orlando City and DC United, while UFA plays CSA, CASL and Fusion

This is how youth soccer should be -- more friendlies where clubs just get together and play multiple games, maybe pay for refs but do not have to fork out $500 to $1000 to play in a tournament.

Just because its a friendly doesn't mean it can't be a competitive bloody war!
