What do I do with my weekends now? Daughter tore her ACL in an RPL game in Jacksonville, FL. Worked so hard to finally make this team, no what?? Surgery is necessary, and no high school soccer either......

That stinks. Hope she recovers well. My daughter broke her arm once and had to miss a season. It passed faster than I expected. Somehow I was able to fill up the time but unfortunately my house wasn't any cleaner and I didn't exercise or cook any more than usual but that's what I would want to do with more free time! Maybe focus more on school? Good luck!

Wow. Sorry she's going through this. Best wishes for a strong recovery and a fun season or two without soccer. And listen to the physical therapist!
Just curious: did she tape her ankle? A theory exists about taping ankles - it restricts the joint and forces unnatural strain onto the knee. Kinda makes sense since all the joints have some inherent rubber-band-like flexibility - until one is made less flexible (with tape). Then the knee can get over loaded and pop.

Surgery is necessary, and no high school soccer either...... Been there done that, my advice... Based on QUAD reconstruction. Strength train 2x and PT 3x weekly. We were busier than ever in recovery. The strength gains core and upper body while lower body is healing help the mental turmoil. By the time she gets to squats, strength training really helps move things along safely and builds confidence. Our PT and trainer worked hand in hand.. My 2 cents.

Actually she said he door got stuck on then ball or slipped over it. 8:00 game so field and ball were slick. Worse scream ever! She heard it pop! Surgery in next few weeks . She is a junior and taking many AP classes so may be a blessing academically. Hate that she won't be seen at CASL or WAGS this year. She doesn't tape

Surgery is necessary, and no high school soccer either...... This may not be what you asked for but I'm sharing anyway. It's important to get the best surgeon and follow rehab to the letter. One of the best Atlanta has to offer is : Dr Peter Symbas at 1800 Howell Mill Rd #200, Atlanta, GA 30318 Phone: (404) 352-1015 He may look young but he has specialized for years. The surgery is worse than the injury but it's a must and luckily she is young and will recover much faster than us old folks. You just have to remind her and yourself in challenging times like this .. we learn and grow from painful experiences much more so than the glorious ones.. This too shall pass ~ Best to your daughter.

OH NO!!! Our best to her and your family! I agree with goteam - follow the rehab instructions! We had a friend come back from surgery only to re-injure herself her first tournament back in the game. Careful recovery!
