Georgia has more people than Costa Rica, yet they whoop our tail.
Ignorance - doing the same thing, but expecting different results.
Bradley has to stop playing like a 5th center back. Pulisic was AWOL in the 2nd half. Jozy was Jozy, he is absent unless he finds the back of the net Tim Ream was bad I still don't care for the Zusi experiment at back, would much prefer Garza to make the roster

It is time for a total reset with younger players.
It is also time for the US Soccer Federation to unscrew the player ID pathway. It is currently muddied with too many leagues, all claiming superiority. Superiority should be awarded, not given. Until the top of the pyramid is a point, accessible by ALL and not a plateau where you can rest, nothing will change.
(This applies to youth and pro soccer in the United States)

(This applies to youth and pro soccer in the United States) Rifle, you are spot on regarding the player ID pathway. The introduction of Boys ECNL and Girls DA has completely muddled what was already a crowded soccer landscape. There should be a clear pathway from rec leagues all the way to DA. U.S. Soccer also should reach out to the NCAA to see if they can try and work together to improve college soccer and make it more consistent U.S. Soccer. And why do we have U.S. Club Soccer and U.S. Youth Soccer? Money, money, money. Everybody wants to make a buck from the youth sports business. Time recently had a cover story on this and Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel also did a nice package on the insanity of the youth sports business. I wish I knew of a way to fix this.

It is rather interesting -- the higher level you play, the more expensive it keeps getting.....
UFA director at the original DA meeting back in the Spring made a point and reiterated to the nth degree, that they would never offer DA free of charge and that kids/parents needed a vested interest. He actually kind of laughed about it, the parents in attendance didn't think it was so funny.
I get it with hundreds of kids playing DA on the boys and girls side now, how do you help support Da to make it cheaper. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of the DA registration fees. my guess is 50 to 75% goes directly to coaching salary. a % to field rentals, a % for insurance etc. Interesting though as discussed on here before UFA does not charge an out of county fee for DA though.

If you want to improve soccer you need to simplify the structure (Pyramid mentioned above), relegation throughout including MLS, find a way to legalize transfer fees in the US, and get the Youth fees associated with soccer down.
Here's a typical years cost if you play for a UFA Forsyth U13 boys Select team and play ODP (we're not at ufa Forsyth but using as an example)
Club Fees (including NPL): $2,000 Tournaments ($50 average) * 6 tournaments = $300 Disney Fees, travel and hotel: $1,500 NPL Travel: $1,000 ODP: $90 tryouts, $255 team fee, $325 sub-regional event, and $785 Region camp = $1,455 TOTAL: $6,255
*Median household income in the US in 2015 was $56,516
Personally I told my son no ODP tryouts this year due to the added cost.

The level of complacency and tolerance for being a below average football country is mind boggling in comparison to the amount of money that is spent to participate. As a matter of fact, I don't see the need for all the travel for these young kids when there are so many clubs in metro Atlanta with very similar if not better teams. MLS needs to go to promotion/relegation or it will never be a real competitive league, just a mature version of DA for teams that can afford to join the league.

There are many issues and problems, and I'll highlight a new one I heard the other day.
A top tier player from the midwest was on the national team radar for all youth national teams, parents were making over a 100 mile commute each way to get their kid to DA training. He had also decided to leave the residency program which put him apparently in poor favor with the US national team and the coaching staff. Player was also a heck of an athlete an played on state championship high school basketball team and quit DA his final few years.
Regardless of leaving the DA program, he was still offered to sign an MLS homegrown deal, his issue was there was no guaranteed money and wasn't keen on that with regards to his compensation. He chose to attend a top d1 school instead, and said he couldn't' be happy and made the best decision of his life. For him, even though he aspires to play top level soccer still, he didn't like the proposition of losing his future to injury and not having a college education. He was given a guaranteed 4 year scholarship.
