So how was it? Couldn't make it last night, unfortunately was out of town for work. Sucks!!
On TV the smoke made it look a little strange, and the color of the turf looks a little bit funny on TV, not sure exactly what it is, but my kids made the comment that the players looked "animated"

It was great. The color and sound at the stadium were excellent =)
On TV (I've watched part of it) the color was definitely off. Some have speculated that the massive video board is playing havoc with the TV white balance. I will say the board is so bright it really changes the lighting in the stadium when it switches between scenes and some of the ads (like the coca-cola ad is an incredibly bright red).
The crowd sound in the stadium was pretty good. I think the size creates an echo effect that will take some getting used to, but the fans are LOUD. On TV the really loud things like the "Atlanta" "United" call/response cheer are oddly clipped and muted. Believe me, it was nothing at all like that in the stadium. I think it will take some time for the TV networks to learn to properly mic the crowd.

Oh, the smoke took forever to clear, but it wasn't that distracting after a few minutes. It will be much better with the roof open of course.

The Falcons have a great new stadium for their narrow football field. The place is unbelievably cool. Food and beverage and restroom lines were better than expected.
They'll do well to figure out how to run some exhaust fans if pre-game fireworks are used for every game. The smoke haze lingered past half time.
United needs a real soccer stadium with grass. Sight lines are not good at edges of the field, nor when anyone stands. I'm 6'-5" tall and I had a hard time seeing, so I can only imagine the perspective of the vertically challenged.

Read some complaints on the other board that people still standing, and the little ones unable to see. True??? I stood the whole game. It was an exciting game, not a movie. Edit: I definitely don't mind sitting but what I do mind is when one person sits behind 20 rows of standing fans and relentlessly nags the person immediately in front of them. I don't have a solution for that problem .. and the team scoring 10 goals in two games isn't helping.

I could barely hear the supporters section from the 200 level. I wonder if the giant curtain dulls the acoustics.
I also read that there was a lot of beer being thrown and lots of in-fighting among supporter groups. Hopefully that stupidity gets straightened out.

I was in the 228 section and noticed below that over half the stadium stood the entire match my family enjoyed our experience in the new stadium . Had a FC Dallas section that made noise until AU went up 2-0 then they were pretty quiet afterwards Lol !

My daughter and I were there, we're season ticket holders and go as often as my schedule allows. The Benz is amazing, my only complaint is that the sightlines at Bobby Dodd were better, especially behind either goal.

We enjoyed the stadium. I believe that there are more restrooms and concession stands than the typical stadium. No lines for either. The cheap concession prices for standard fare is a big win.
Our seats are near the supporter's section and we thought the crowd noise was louder than Bobby Dodd. Acoustics are different and maybe not as clear, but the echoing effect keeps sounds travelling longer. I want to see a game with the roof open. I think the roof closed is worst case for that stadium.
Getting in the stadium was incredibly easy. Bobby Dodd had serious issues in that regard, but there were a ton of security lines and the self-scanning of the tickets seemed to work pretty well. I saw a couple of people have issues self-scanning their tickets so I'm not sure what happened there.
Sightlines aren't the best in MB. We are on the 7th row in the corner and we can't see the near sideline. My 12 year old needs a very short person to stand in front of him so that he can see the field at all. No complaints from him though; he had a blast with all the goals scored. I personally like standing throughout the game, but my family doesn't. You could tell that more people wanted to sit in the new stadium, so I think it will be an ongoing dilemma.
One other minor complaint was how they showed the replays on the halo board. I guess there are like 6 main video panels on the halo board and they would only show replays on 2 of them. They just happen to be the two boards that are not oriented very well in our direction. Might be a fix for the future because we really couldn't see the replays.

Read some complaints on the other board that people still standing, and the little ones unable to see. True??? We stood until the people in front of us sat down. I have mixed feelings about this. I would think shorter kids could stand on the seats and see just fine, but maybe they aren't allowed to. But on the other hand, I'm not going to sit down and not watch the game from behind someone in front of me standing. Tough situation all around. There are plenty of really nice places to go and stand to watch if you can't see from your seat very well, though.

Totally different experience than Bobby Dodd. Am I crazy that I liked Bobby Dodd better...
Yea, I can see the field better at Mercedes, but everything is so much further away. The field level is lower so visibility is better, but it makes everything more distant. I had no obstructed site lines like I did at Bobby Dodd though.
I just like open air stadiums, maybe it will be different if the roof is ever open.
The ring is obviously ridiculously huge and in my opinion completely unnecessary (at least from my seats). Its very awkward to look up at.
Soccer is meant to be played outside on grass, not indoors and surely not indoors on turf --- there I said it..

If you liked Bobby Dodd better you were probably sitting in the West side stands, or you like brutal heat :-)
Don't get me wrong, I liked Bobby Dodd too, but the ridiculous lines for concessions (on the East side they never went below 20-30 minutes... ever) and the brutal sun in your face baking you like an oven made it far worse for me than the slight disadvantages at MBS.
The players seem to be fine with the turf, and their play so far has been stellar, so I'll reserve judgment on that one.

Only been to Bobby Dodd for GaTech and Beat games though. Soccer should be outside which should be interesting since my bet is the Dome is never fixed to open up.

Beautiful stadium....Sight lines are not that good at edges of the field, had to look up at the screen to see what was going on sometimes. It's a football stadium at the end of the day and those things weren't taken into consideration. Its still a great atmosphere, no fireworks yesterday since roof was closed, cant wait till they open it!

I let my season ticket lapse and now can't get one. My wife is not a soccer fan and the neighbors don't seem to be enthusiastic about the sport. I would love to join a group from John's Creek for some or all the games.
I wonder if there is anyone on this forum interested in either a multi-game pass (4 for $120) or Group tickets (10 minimum).
This season is going to be a good one. I enjoyed the 2017 season plays.
Cheers!
