Our child played up every year until U14 when we held them at age. The club got around this by rostering at their age and club passing up each game. He played some games or tournaments at age dependingon who they played. I don't know if this is still allowed with the new age rule.

Technically that's a grey area. Yes you can roster a kid 12U, then transfer them to a 13U team so they would have two player passes, one as a 12U and one with the 13U team and they could play Academy and Classic/Athena since Academy is technically in house and not run by GaSoccer. Worst case the club would have to forfeit any games the kid played in as a 12U but those games outside of tournament don't count so no real punishment.

Clubs can player pass kids up. They cant play a player down whose rostered at an older age even if player is the younger age. I know this used to happen a lot with our kid and with other players who played up.

If the player is rostered on the U13 team, he can't play on a U12 team in regular season play. He could play U12 in tournaments though. As mentioned already, most cubs would roster the player with the correct age group and then clip pass him to the older age group. That way he is always available for his own age group if needed.

Question for @jumpjumpkeep311 If the team that the kid was rostered to... has all of the players who were on a U12 roster and then transferred to the u13 team - and no tryout was held... is there another issue here? Is it more ethical than anything else? OR Would this rule then put the Coach and the Player(s) at risk: 310.3i Any player found to be playing for a team on which that player is not eligible to participate will be deemed an ineligible player and a forfeit will be charged against the team with which the player participated. The D&P Committee has the right to add additional sanctions against either or both the player and the coach after a hearing to determine intent.

Not exactly sure what's going on here, BUT: A player can't legally be rostered to two teams and have two player passes, no mater which way you look at it (with certain exceptions for fall/spring play). In the case put forward originally by soccerfutbolfam, not only would the inconsequential U12 games be a problem, but the U13 games would also be forfeits. In the second scenario by JumpJumpKeep311 if the players were all transferred to U13 from U12 the would be legal. If no tryout were held that wold be up to the club's policies.

Why would u need to make new cards for u13? The u12 cards are fine for them to play, as long as they're club passed they can play for the u13 team

3 players can club pass from u12 to u13. No new passes are needed. Making new passes jeopardizes the club.

The u12 card is sufficient to play for both

You all can't get it because you're not thinking mischievous. By having them rostered 12U, paperwork printed and then transferred to 13U and new passes printed then you're able to move that kid back and forth between Classic and academy games, and sounds like he's not the only player. This way you could move 5-6 players from a 12U A team to a 13U Classic 1 team AND still have your 3 club passes to move kids from your 13U Classic 2,3,4,5 teams. It's a loophole that is technically is illegal but Ga Soccer has no way of tracking it since like someone said there's no computerized game card for academy games. You have to remember too that 12U academy players are only able to club pass to the top two teams of 13U. So if a club has a C1, C2 and C3 team that C3 team CANNOT club pass 12Us. This is something the "big" clubs have done since the club pass rule was made and certain "little" clubs do just to make sure they can get enough players to those 13U games to compete.

What soccerfutbolfam described is quite illegal!

What soccerfutbolfam described is quite illegal! You're right. But there's no way to enforce it unless Ga Soccer puts academy games under them with computerized and set rosters which completely ruins the idea of an Academy program. Might as well go back to the old days of playing Classic and Athena starting at 11U.
