Sorry for the newbie question, but just looking for clarification on pro/rel at the lower levels of GA Soccer.
I understand that the top two teams in B get promoted to A and the bottom two teams in A drop to B. But how does it work when C and D are split into East and West?
Do the top two teams in D East get promoted to C East? Do the bottom two teams in C East get relegated to D East?
Thank you for any clarification you can provide. Tried searching the GA Soccer website but couldn't really find the answer.

Question of the year TECHNICALLY - only the top team will be promoted and only the bottom team will be relegated but in a world full of crazy new rules like calendar year birth dates and new ECNL/DA teams, continuity of rosters are a thing of the past. Depending on the age group - it is a toss up.
Examples: At U13 eons ago when my kid was a U13 - In the B/C East/West groupings - top team in both B's advanced to A -bottom two in the B's went all the way down to D - the rest were an even split - top half was B/bottom half was C
So yes, it depends on a lot of things. but the 'party line' is that only top team is guaranteed advancement and only bottom team is possibly facing relegation - it usually comes down to the politics of the club and how big an influence it has on GA Soccer.
Hope this helped (a little). Please continue to come here and ask - we have a great group of amazing resources on youth soccer are on this forum! Welcome!

To piggyback on the original question - what happens in U13 girls Athena A after the fall season? I have heard that up to the top 4 teams will move up to RPL since there is no RPL for U13 in the Fall season. Does that mean that 4 Athena B teams will move up to Athena A and nobody from Athena A is relegated? Or will a couple of Athena A teams be relegated also, and just reduce the amount in Athena A (there were 14 teams in u13 Athena A this fall).
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks

It can also depend on the number of returning players or new players and what level those new players played previously.

Thanks To keep going with this, supposedly all AGCs are working on getting all brackets to a max of 11 teams. This is something that most clubs have been asking for so for the 13s you could see the top 4 move to R3PL, and the last place A team and First place B team flip flop.

I thought the big move to RPL happened at U14. So wouldn't it be the top 4 or 5 teams in Athena A would move to either DA or RPL after the spring season? Their are teams in Athena A right now that have Pre-DA listed in the name.

@rec... RPL movement at U13 happens after the current Fall season. Remember that U13s and U14s play full seasons (Fall and Spring) because there is no high school yet.
U13 Fall (Everyone plays Athena MINUS the clubs playing ECNL at U13) U13 Spring (Some teams are promoted to RPL. Last year 4 teams from Georgia Athena A were promoted) U14 Fall (Lots of changes here as some teams will exit the system to play DA and there is movement of players. This is where the comment made by others about regarding clubs retaining a certain number of players year over year to keep earned spots.)
Also it appears that only UFA labeled their teams as Pre DA. Eventually there will be only UFA that plays U14 DA. I assume the other will keep whatever spot the best team has earned (RPL, Athena A) next year.
Its very confusing but I hope this helps.

Top team is promoted in each division everything is left to the AGC to work through. AGCs work to get to 12 team max divisions, although it can become a math problem. Teams are added and disbanded which also has an impact.
