From parks to Premier League: the shocking scale of racism in English football Coming off of a great game between City and the Spurs, you would think that even with the aggregate loss, players like Sterling would be ecstatic. However, there is something I personally find vile that is seriously creeping back into the Beautiful Game - The level of racism by the parents, fans and I dear say the management in Footy that continue to allow this deplorable action to continue and thrive. Racism in English footballSadly, as much as I love the beautiful game, some of the reports that are coming out of Europe as of late with the continued racist chants, cheers and acts are truly debilitating to hear. As more and more American Lads and Lasses make it over to Europe, in addition to all the normal worries of your child moving thousands of miles away, you now also have to add this to their toolbox. Starting this Friday, the PFA is kicking off a 24 hour social media blackout to highlight the issue...FG Social Media Blackout

Its basically happening everywhere in western Europe (likely Eastern Europe also). Its happening a lot in Italy, likely as racist sentiment builds as a backlash to the waves of North African migrants.

There is no clearer expression of ignorance than racism. Agreed. The Keane incident (Juventus @ Cagliari) was horrible, and showed the ugly underbelly of institutionalized racism in professional soccer.

It’s absolutely disgusting - any fan found guilty should be given a life time ban. It can’t be hard to identify these individuals and begin requiring id clearance at these stadiums where it runs rampant.
At some point teams will have to start getting points taken away.

I always equate this problem to that of the British Football Hooligans. They would travel en-mass and cause pure destruction and horror. The powers that be decided to fight back and use the tactics employed by anti-gang and anti-mafia law enforcement groups to get rid of the problem, root n stem. They kept dossiers, mug shots, finger prints, passport bans, the whole kit n caboodle. It worked. You no longer hear of the Hooligans causing all kinds of mayhem in footy. I'm thinking it's time to re-employ those tactics. I personally have no hope for footy in Italy. Racism is soo rooted in soccer there, it might be a generation before it decipates...FG
