Never fit our system, own players won't pass to him unless he's the only option. Wasted crosses again and again. Please get him off the field.
And FDB, why is Parkhurst suddenly an attacker? I really like him and he works his tail off, but he's a career defender. You can't expect him to suddenly know what runs to make in the attacking penalty area. The missed pass from Barco isn't on Parkhurst, it's on FDB for putting him in that spot.
Some bright spots, but not a unified effort by any means.

I'm with you on the frustration. Parky is playing fullback, so he is up and down that sideline. Shea is there by default IMO, I think everyone else is injured right? Also, I feel we need to play a back 4, as 3 in the back we are leaky. We missed a lot of shots on goal and just could not finish today, we can't blame everything on FdB.

I was not a fan after seeing his first 2 games, and tonights game was further proof that he should not start for ATL UTD. How many straight turnovers? 3? 4? More? Gah. However I really want FDB to get benched. I heard someone on this forum say Tata left because of upper management... is this true? Is FDB immune to upper management?

Whelp, he got us a PK, that’s about it! Shea was a mess other than that!

AGREEMENT all around about Shea, strait up garbage. Like someone else mentioned, we need a solid 4 in the back otherwise we're leaking thru balls. Never thought I'd see a day so early in this soccer journey, where folks would leave the Benz before the game was done. The game was choppy and had no flow with the constant fouling. LGP, I luv you but even an academy U12 CB would know to track back on that second goal, you know better. FDB, dump your 3-4-3 formation and shore things up till you bring in the players that can play that formation style. Sad thing is with all our justified criticisms, with about 15 minutes to go in the game, AU had a legitimate chance to at the very least tie it up, if not punch the go-ahead goal into the back of the net. All in all, not a good showing. AU leadership needs to sit FDB down and maybe start with asking him to watch film from the last two seasons to see what worked and maybe, just maybe, try to replicate some or all of it. At this rate, by Labor day, we may be out of the race. Starting next Saturday, AU is up for 8 games in just over 30 days. FDB will have to figure things out and Bello needs to get back on the pitch to swap out with Wreck-it-Shea 😰😨

He picked up his work rate in the 2nd half, but he's still a misfit (Shea).
Would like to see Nagbe get the ball more, he's a quiet and steady worker.
LGP needs to sit a game and get his head on straight. Too many fouls and caught not recovering at full speed on the second goal. What about Escobar as outside back? Where is he?
Martinez had a nice turn and shot from 10-12 that was well saved - not much else he could have done with that one. Needs the ball at his feet more in the final 30.

My issue is why if your gonna let your right back roam forward and not play defense , why the hell is parkhurst that player. At one time he was playing centrally.
We had our chances. Their keeper was amazing.

Parky with his age and lack of pace has impacted his side of the field this game better than Brek has the entire season.
Let this sink in....Brek was on a Designated Player contract last year, I wouldn't rank him in the top 15 of this team.

Lots of injured players actually. Bello, Kratz. Martinez had some nice plays but he also had trouble with the hold up play. Gressel was also off today. Crosses he sent in were just not up to his usual. I actually thought we were playing a back 4. That is how it generally looked. Laurentowitz always drops back to act like a center back as many holding mids do. What did they say on TV?

Honestly, I think it's because he's a southpaw and they are few and far between. I'd rather put a right footed player in for him and pay less...FG

He came back from one injury only to immediately get another one and that was only a few weeks ago. If they put him out there for an entire match a few weeks after a muscle injury...he gets hurt again. I bet they had him in there only as an emergency and because there is no one else. If they played him more than 15 minutes then they need new medical staff. Adductor strains look ok until you play your full effort and then they get reaggravated. He needs another week.

Watch the video of the goals.
LGP slide tackle led to goal one. Shea did a decent job tracking back but let the ball get a cross. Should have fouled him.
Parky was torched by the goal scorer by being in a bad position when lgp made a foolish tackle.
Lgp then obviously was torched in the 2nd goal. But that finish was pretty nasty.
I’ll say it one last time. If Carleton is in the 18, then that tells me the coach thinks he can play and contribute. At this point throw him out there. I’d much rather see him then shea on the pitch. I know it’s not position for position, but clearly in this system positions and formations are tossed out once the whistle blows. It’s simply the way they line up when each half starts.
LGP is way way to reckless. It’s amazing it didn’t cost us last season. He’s the “yedlin” of Atlanta United. .

I was actually impressed with the speed to get back, but I was shocked to see him not do anything with that position that he gained. He reminded me of my 9 year old running next to a player yet not trying for the ball! He could have fouled him. He could have continued to use the burst of speed he used to get back to get one more step and poke the ball out even if it went for a corner. It was weird to see him just run next to the guy. The second goal we had one defender against one attacker until the goal scorer turned on the jets. That was serious effort to get down the field. I have seen them on other stations "clock" the speed of those guys on the run. I would like to have known Acosta's speed on that run. From where I was sitting he looked to be blazingly fast.

How did we suddenly become so thin at both outside back spots? We traded Garza to Cincinnati and let McCann go because we had too many outside backs. Now we seem to have none and are using a 35 year old central defender and whatever it is that you want to call Brek Shea.
