Ugly scenes tonight at the AU match, boos raining down from the fans along with trash/objects from the stands. Really? I heard boos for their time-wasting goal keeper and the referee but didn't see trash. Where did the trash come from and when?

Well, the team sucked and the coach is not right for the job. It's obvious to everyone. Not condoning throwing things on the field but certainly understand the sentiment.

A few years back at the Georgia Dome during the Gold Cup, cups of beers were thrown from every direction from angry fans. That was not pleasant when the entire family smelled like alcohol on the way home.

The boos were directed at the FC Dallas players especially the goalkeeper who kept going down. It was obvious this was done to disrupt the flow of the game. We sat above and to the right of the supporters section and did not see anything thrown onto the field. If it was, it should not have happened and the folks working at the Benz should have removed them.

There was nothing wrong with the team last night except for finishing chances. They were dynamic in attack and created a lot of chances. Maybe FdB was onto something w/ his "spoiled" comment.

If there was nothing wrong with the team we would have won. But while the performance was OK, there were issues: 1. Finishing (not just Josef on that perfect ball from Pity, and let's not forget his 4 missed chances at NER, two from Tito and one from Gressel) and those were the screamers. 2. Quality of final pass (many players incl Pity, but Shea especially frustrated a lot of fans and prob his teammates too with how many he messed up). Can Pogba be that much worse? 3. Big red can't keep up in transition, and LGP needs to grow up at some point, otherwise Parky with Miles will be our CBs. He fouls and draws more cards than all defenders combined. 4. FDB subbing a forward instead of a back (Shea or Parky, and keep Tito in) for Pity (clear and obvious move) with 25' left and in need of 2 goals, and at that point playing with 3 in back as the counterattacking threat was mainly to our left as Dallas has dropped deep in their half. Lack of timing was normal and could have been minimized given the subs and starters had barely played together (why not Williams, and why take Gressel out and not Parky or Shea and shift Parly left so Gressel can help with crosses and flank play also since Dallas wasn't threatening from that side). And last 25' was as good of a time as any to go to a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 with real mids and fwds ... This is where I need my coach to tactically help change the game. 5. There was zero width the last 30' in particular, to stretch Dallas and create spilts. Zero space for the combination plays we tried but quality passing and timing weren't there. Our central players can do it, but not these wingbacks. We need much better quality, speed and depth in the flanks, wingers and most certainly wingbacks. Especially on the left. 6. We need Pity to start playing. You're looking at Vela (LAFC) and Pozuelo (TFC) and you hope that Pity will start making a difference here too ...

I love Tito and Gressel but both were playing poorly for at least 10-15 minutes before they were pulled. Tito was out of gas. He could not run at his usual speed and was not getting clean touches on the ball. Nearly all of Gressel's crosses were off. He sent them too far, out of bounds or too short especially in the second half. Yes, normally both of them would have been my preference to stay in, but not in this match...they were not playing well and I was not the only one who noticed. Our entire section which has the same season ticket holders since we started at the Benz were all saying the same thing. We are weak on the left with Shea. He is not as good as McCann or Garza. Hope Bello gets better soon AND can play with good form. Pity has been a disappointment so far, but then again so was Barco last year. Maybe he just needs more time to adjust. Regardless of your analysis we had DOZENS of chances in this match even in the last 30. Our finishing was poor. Josef is struggling to combine hold up play with his usual finishing accuracy. Maybe he is just thinking too much...do I pass this or shoot and thus is not crisp. Also he is not getting his head on the ball. I feel that this team will be firing on all cylinders soon...a few weeks ago they couldn't create quality chances. Now they are creating them and they just need to finish them. I think it will come. As far as the defense is considered we have always been vulnerable in transition. Even with Tata.

That was not pleasant when the entire family smelled like alcohol on the way home. The game where 12 policemen needed to escort the referees out of the stadium? It was a double-header and utter chaos. There were multiple fights (serious fights) in the stands, in addition to a constant rain of beer...

Should get the win against Colorado on Saturday. Colorado has only been shut out once this year, so they can still score, they just like to concede more goals. Colorado is currently the worst team in the league with 2 points.

How long do they give FdB? Half a season? How long does his system take?
AU made the playoffs in year 1 and were very successful. There is no reason ATL cannot make the playoffs again this year from a personnel and coaching. Its not rocket science, its soccer.

I love Tito and Gressel but both were playing poorly for at least 10-15 minutes before they were pulled. Tito was out of gas. He could not run at his usual speed and was not getting clean touches on the ball. Nearly all of Gressel's crosses were off. Honestly, one thing you could count on Gressel to do, the last couple of years was to whip that ball into the 18. Every so often, he would be the won to strike a frozen rope into the back of the net. Not to be a Debbie-downer on marriage, but ever since he got married he has not be on. I'm not blaming his wife or his marriage, but something has been off with him all season. What is even more amazing and causes one to scratch your head in disbelief, is he's in a contract year. As you can imagine, since he's not blowing things out of the park like he has the last couple of years, the contract talks are currently stalled. I hope he gets back into form and begins doing what he does best. Otherwise, sad as it is to say he may be another that they let go. I believe he is making just over $100k, but that was for his rookie contract. Now it's time for him to step up and get paid...FG

Yes it was two games being played and I also remember the game(s) being stopped a couple of times due to objects being thrown onto the field.

To me it's simple -- during the interview process, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.......... How do you hire a guy that was going to change everything you had been successful doing during the last 2 seasons? Would have loved to hear that interview and the questions asked and how they were answered.
I still think losing Almirón plays a huge role in this -- dude attacked space and defenders with the ball at his feet like nobody else in the league. Then the runs he would make into space that would open up seems for Martinez were just as impressive.
However, with any head coaching position - the buck stops with you, you can't replace all the players, you replace the coach/manager. If they lose to Colorado, i bet he's done. TA will start coaching the team.

The difference is finishing those chances. Like the article stated - those defensive mistakes were masked last 2 seasons because the team usually had the lead. Last game v Dallas, they looked great. Outstanding performance by their keeper and two goal posts - if not for that, ATL wins easily. Can't put it all on FdB.

I took the night off from attending, but man, talk about standing around on offense. Nagbe finally plays aggressively on offense and positive things happen. Howard has to make that save right there, but doesn't and lucky for AU win 1-0 with a very methodic attic. Playing way way to slow with the ball at everyones feet. They let the ball stop to often as well, keep the ball moving. Pity is playing way to soft, you touch him and he goes down, time to man up. A win is progress, but worried it could be fools gold --- 2 wins, and both are against the worst 2 teams in the league.

With Barco actually contributing this season, I would hold off on jumping on to the bandwagon just yet. He's going to be gone for the next few weeks with his U20 Nat'l Team WC Duty for the rest of this month, just when AU begins a stretch of 8 games in 28 days...
