Any truth to the rumor that the U12 girls SCCL spot is actually NOT going to a 08 team at all? Rumor has it they are bypassing the 4 teams at Fowler and giving the TOP SCCL Spot to the 09 team....

Premier being the top team below DA at UFA Forsyth I assume you mean... So if the Norcross U14B Premier team is SCCL-P that would mean they're below the Red team from Forsyth, correct? That smacks of a diss by UFA leadership. I thought the concensus was that the Norcross boys teams were strong? I had no idea that Norcross lost most of their leadership until FG's post, but might that be due to decisions like this? Just postulating...Is Norcross currently a sinking ship? Well we all know that the best team doesn't always get the better spot when it come to the Big 5 clubs. Branch locations generally get the short end of the stick when politics of clubs are going on. I know in that same U14B age SSA's NPL (Northside Church team) did not do well at all last season in NPL. They were probably more on caliber of an SCCL-P(2) team. The SSA SCCL team from last year could easily beat that NPL team(and any other lower SSA team at the U14B age) and give the DA team a run for their money as well. Also a branch location team of SSA for that age group could also beat the NPL team from last year just going by scrimmages that all the teams had against each other. So in the rising U14B teams they made the last year SCCL team the NPL team this year, but instead of dropping that Northside club 2 spots all the way down to SCCL-p it seems politics was involved and they just dropped them 1 to SCCL and stuck the branch location SSA team in SCCL-p even though it is very likely they are better than the SSA Northside branch team they gave SCCL to. I assume this move was to keep the Northside branch parents from revolting and losing even more of their better players. I think eventually this all plays out correctly as I don't think that SCCL team(Northside Church team) for SSA will do well in their table, and I think the branch location SSA SCCL-p team will probably excel if not be in the top 2 of their bracket this season. SSA will figure out they put the wrong team in the wrong division. Got to prove it on the field sometimes when politics are involved.

Premier is the top team at UFA SCCL Premier is the 2nd division SCCL is the 1st division If you were referring to that instead of what UFA call their teams. I'm not entirely sure what the person said above about UFA is correct. I know for a fact the UFA-Norcross Premier team in U14B is the SCCL-P team not the SCCL team. So that might be their best team in Norcross for that age group but obviously the UFA Forsyth team is probably got the 1st division SCCL spot. UFA Norcross U14 SCCL-P is a completely new team, there are 4-5 top players from last season that made the cut. Sibaja hand picked this team from DA tryouts, he recruited the last cuts from DA tryouts to Norcross team. Let us see what this team can do on the pitch. Having watched U14B DA, NPL, SCCL and SCCL-P at tryouts, this Norcross SCCL-P team is as good as NPL team at Forsyth if not better but that is just my opinion. Results should speak and I think there are some very strong SCCL-P teams with that being some club’s 2nd best team like AFU.

UFA top team is DA across all Locations. Then at branch locations you have the Premier team, red team, gold team, etc (if at forsyth location all colors of the rainbow seem to be represented). Pre-SCCL Forsyth Premier and Norcross Premier were considered equal. Once SCCL and NPL as a primary league came into being the Pyramid Don't Lie - PDL (have to have been reading a while to understand this reference) established that NPL was considered by the club to be higher than SCCL, hence Forsyth got the NPL slot and Norcross got the SCCL spot. But they also added the caveat that if the Norcross team did not perform up to expectations, that spot would then go to the Forsyth red team. After the first SCCL season that happened to the boys 06 team at Norcross. With the addition of SCCL 2 (a better name than SCCL Premier) the Forsyth red team was awarded this spot, unless of course the Forsyth red team already had the SCCL spot. So I think at the 06 boys it is Forsyth Premier (NPL) Forsyth Red (SCCL) and Norcross Premier (SCCL 2). Long term I think UFA has in mind that all Forsyth Premier teams will be NPL, al Red Teams will be SCCL and all SCCL 2 spots will be Norcross Premier. Won't happen overnight but slowly, unless Norcross does a better job of pulling in players, that's where it's headed. Sort of a death spiral. Not sure UFA really cares. With Guti and Roberto I've heard they will no longer staff a Branch Director. Have not heard if they appointed or will have an Academy Director for the location. Who knows 5 years from now the Norcross Fields may be under a new or existing club other than UFA. And yes the fields do suck but that's because Gwinnett doesn't do a great job and will not let them turf some of the fields. Love it when its rained for 3 weeks and the sprinklers still come on regularly.

Note that on the boys side Norcross coaches run half the DA teams if not more but girls side is a whole another story.

As of now the position has been made redundant but may be revived if the numbers warrant it...

There were a number of player changes verses last year. Plus a new coach, Barat Killian. He's a no-nonsense coach that is very detail oriented. This team will not have the top SCCL spot but in the end will possibly prove that they deserve the SCCL top spot.

Yep they beat the NASA ECNL U14B team that I honestly I thought would win it all. I thought that ECNL team had much better ball control as opposed to the UFA-Norcross team, but I think Norcross's team was faster and bigger, so that might have been difference. Didn't stay long enough to watch that game. My question is though why is that team in SCCL-P. If what you are saying is true they are better than the SCCL team UFA has put in for the 06B age group and may even be as good as their NPL team.

The SCCL website table also had CF West SCCL missing too. for whatever reason some clubs have 1 team listed and some have 2 teams listed, but at u12 all clubs will play back-to-back games so there are two teams (like former DA). Only current exception is AU with zero.

Thata correct, the spot was taken away from them because they lost every game last year They're in the same tournament next weekend and if both make it to finals, they will have to play each other

Will be interesting to see if UFA promotes this team back to SCCL 1 if they out perform the Forsyth Red Team which took the spot from the Norcross team. This is the trouble with assigning things based on the previous team. Whether you are talking Piedmont Conference/NL spots, athena/classic spots which are supposed to be "earned" or NPL vs SCCL vs SCCL-P spots that the club assigns doesn't matter. There is too much turnover year to year at most clubs as the kids get older. Let's take an NL team that I am familiar with...they lost their 3 best players...2 center mids and a center back all to ECNL teams. They lost a 4 player to burnout. They added back a player who played DA last year. Will they do well in NL this year? Who knows? Losing 3 ECNL caliber players from the center of the pitch can be painful. Plus a new coach. On the flip side Norcross 05 and 04 girls teams added a bunch of new players from a couple of clubs. They could be much better. Preseason tournaments can be hard to go by too, as the nee players have to gel with each other and if you have a new coach they need to learn the players' strengths and weaknesses and the players need to learn the coach's style. The older I get and my kids get the more I realize how meaningless the wins and losses are to judging how good my kids' teams, teammates and coaches are. There are so many factors that play into it that it is impossible to take a small sample size and make any decisions. Back onto the topic of the original thread, when will there be a confirmation that AU has one or two U12 teams in SCCL? Seems like they should be on the schedule by now.

From the moment they got there on Saturday, they complained that the competition was not up to par for them, they were simply too good. That the only reason they didn't do the Concorde tournament is because their coach hates everything Concorde. Parents and players were heard bragging about how good they were and no one could beat them. My understanding is that this "new" ECNL team is the old SCCL team, they just swapped locations and added some kids.

U14 Nasa ECNL Boys is a good team but definitely not a great team. They will end up middle of the pack in ECNL.
Coach C is a great coach, however this team will struggle against bigger, stronger teams. I saw them play this weekend and they were getting knocked off the ball easily and this will only get worse against better competition,. 6 boys came over from his old team. He will make them a better team by the end of the year.
No matter what your complaints are against your former club, they should of played in the Concorde tournament to play against better teams
