There are other ways to block the rooms thru Disney Travel. They will assign rsvp numbers and "hold" rooms for two weeks. LOL Then at two weeks any rsvp numbers that were not claimed are put back into inventory. Because yeah I see parents making THAT decision by August 21st. Oh AND the cancelation policy is refundable up to TWO WEEKS prior to the tournament. Ugh. But hey at least as TM I am not on the hook for the hotel rooms anymore just $5k worth of tournament and travel fees so far for 4 local tournaments and a Disney Trip.

Did they confirm the booking method for hotels -- TM has to cover the deposit for the entire team on one Credit card? I will copy the document here that we were sent so that everyone can read. Phone person did confirm the $200 per room deposit so... do you or anyone else have a copy of the document they will post? Thanks in advance!

Good info. So have you already applied, been accepted and are making the travel reservations? We applied one night, got accepted the next morning...which is odd. In the past it took weeks before one knew, so it makes you wonder if they are in a big need of teams. Called and spoke to Disney, got details and gave them to the coach to discuss. We have not done any reservations, we may not attend. Agreed about this. Curious about how many games will be played offsite with the changes. Our TM warned us to NOT purchase ESPN WWoS game day passes ahead of time because the venues have not been finalized. I will be pissed if we have to stay in a Disney Hotel if our Tournament games are played on local fields.

Last year (for girls, at least) nobody under U15 played at WWoS - it was all at Austin-Tindall (which is not particularly close). We did not stay at a Disney property. They also had nothing there to make it any different than any other (cheaper) tournament.. hell, they didn't even have a t-shirt stand. You had to drive up to WWoS to get a shirt.
Of course, this year they're splitting it up. So maybe everything is at WWoS now? Older kids are in January.

We did Disney last year, my first and hopefully last. Our club isn't doing Disney this year AFAIK. It's too much to all ECNL families to drive to FL 3x in the fall, then go back for Disney (and some go back for Super-Y finals).

Honestly I think they were more than that but my memory fails me, and there is no mention (that I could easily find) of the admission price on this page : www.espnwwos.com/events/soccer/disney-junior-soccer-showcase/planning-tools/Edit 1: Finally found the info buried deep in the website Adults (ages 10+): $19.00 Children (ages 3 - 9): $14.00 So for a family of 4 (assuming the player gets in free) is $52 per day. Ouch. Edit2 : Since when is an eleven year old kid considered an adult ? Grrr....

Also in the past with hotel bookings, if your team didn't make it through to Sundays semi's you could cancel your room and head home. Saved a hotel night and dinner expense plus the I-75 traffic headache of coming home on Sunday. Looks like you have to pay in full your hotel bill 15 days prior to arrival which pretty much tanks that early out travel decision.

I’ve known kids also who had to leave early due to injuries - they were able to check out early from the hotel with zero penalties.

More scenic, less stress, about the same time...

Isn’t that what Southwest and Spirit are for? $200-250 and only the hour drive to and from Hartsfield. 👍🏻

Besides Orlando is the slowest, worst run airport around and the time it takes to drive to ATL, get through security, fly to Orlando, rent a car and drive to wherever in Orlando is a wash time wise. Especially Thanksgiving weekend. Personally I hate any drive longer than 6 hours and usually fly, but usually not to Disney (for soccer tournaments, runDisney events, or vacations). I think we are 60/40 drive vs fly.

We bought the PeachPass specifically for the Florida trips, it works in Florida for the tolls as well. So glad we are done. Go Georgia College Bobcats!!

I hear everyone's points on this but as one who has had three go through this.... If you can find a way to fly, do so. The drive going back on that Sunday will range from 10-12 hours. Been there, done that.

Anthony Travel isn't the best from our experience. The drive back home from Orlando to Atlanta can be tiresome with all the traffic due to Thanksgiving travelers. Your regular 7 hour drive can easily be 10 hours.

Our team is going to the Disney Showcase in January. This sounds like a lot of trouble. Disney is a multiple billion dollar company-can't they offer a little courtesy to parents? Geez.
I'm not the TM but if this is how it will be for our team, I'll boycott too.
And I'm also sure they don't even throw the kids a bone and offer them a 1/2 day free park pass?
I'd have just as much fun in Savannah for a tourney.

Parking should still be free -- they have premium parking for $$$, but I never used it.
We also always maximized our roster will eligible players -- whatever the maximum size was allowed since each player gets a ESPN pass. Even if players were not attending we left them on the roster. adding a 2nd coach used to be an option as well, assume it still is...... (another pass if you know what I mean.....)
