"should they get SCCL-1"

Yes, the influx of AFU girls helped, but it's not just those girls. We have one kid from an ECNL team, one kid who played up at KSA as a U17, and 4 girls from GSA, plus 6 players from UFA's team last year. There is more depth on the team this year.
And our coach is intense. These girls must do everything perfectly or they are called out and made to do it again.
2-1-3 is not great, but those three ties were against GSA, CF and BUSA who sit 1,2,3. And those games were with 3 starters out. Hopefully it will be different the next time we meet.
And yes, our keeper is awesome:). She is soooo quick on her feet and she is the type of girl who will fight for her teammates. Her teammates love her to death.

We get it, you're excited about your daughter's team. The reference was that UFA had advertised that SCCL spot being at Forsyth to families before tryouts, and the influx of players must have given the Norcross coach leverage to keep that spot at Norcross. But to the original question, SCCL has a glass ceiling, that is certainly a negative about it.

League winner from Fall gets auto berth to Nationals, which date &location have not been announced yet. Year-end tourney winner gets berth to Regionals, June 20-23 in WinstonSalem, NC. And yes any team can apply to play in Regionals. My daughter is new to SCCL after coming over from a NL team. I've heard different things so if anyone can clarify for me in simple terms I will really appreciate it. I have heard the following: 1. The team who finishes 1st in the current fall season PLUS the team who wins the SCCL Cup in the spring advance to regionals/nationals. 2. If that is the case a few questions: a) How does this work b) When would regionals/nationals be c) What is the geographic area for Regionals, and then Nationals? For example, even though its probably a long shot for our 05 UFA Norcross girls, can someone give me an example of how it would play out for us IF we are lucky enough to move on? We are currently in 4th after 6 games but have tied all three teams ahead of us with 4 players (3 starters) all missing 4 games, so we know we have the chance to beat some of those teams.

What about ECNL - do you get relegated? There's no promotion or relegation in ECNL. atlfutboldad and SoccerMomSo neither ecnl or sccl relegate. At least there is consistency Clubs pulled out of GA Soccer (sccl) for various reason - including scheduling issues with the old Rpl. And people say how great ecnl is. So is it safe to say relegation is a non-issue?

Relegation between leagues for a club is a non-issue. But within a club may be a different story. And theres always room to move between teams within a club.
"Theres nowhere to go but up[X] down[X] remain in the exact same place."
It wasnt relegation that was the OP question, it was the question of promotion. And there is no "up" from SCCL aside from going for the US Club National Cup. NTH won 60% of the girls brackets last year, it doesnt look like they will repeat that feat. Did some of those girls go to Concorde, Roswell and Impact?

Half or more teams in ECNL, SCCL and NPL are struggling. Player pool is diluted and here we are pontificating on which league is better tirelessly Obviously inter or intra club movement of players to better teams happens all the time.

Thats kinda funny, its not written anywhere, but that is what happened last fall (and last spring regarding regionals). I'm not sure how those teams found out that had the nationals berth. I assume that's the same for SCCL-1 winners this year. The question is, what do the SCCL-P winners get?

Honesty if you are interested in advancement specifically at the 05 Girls age group and not interested in trying out an ECNL girl, you should take you daughter and tryout for the NL 05 team at Roswell, LSA or Interatlanta and choose the one closest to where you live. All are better options then UFA norcross sccl

I disagree that they are much better options, it depends on the coach and whether your kid CAN make those teams. Those teams have likely had pretty consistent rosters for 2-3 years.

Talking would likely be fruitless, they'd want to see your kid in action. Yor welcome to bring your kid to the tryouts for any of them...for one night I guess. Good luck getting a call that way though...

I can't share a spot where this is layed out clearly but can tell you how it worked last year and its expected to work the same. In our league last year the team that won the Fall received an automatic bid to Nationals in Colorado. The team that won the Spring league was offered preferential treatment (not sure what that was since they did not go to regionals) in the region tournament at Winston Salem. Our team finished 3rd in Fall and second in Spring and applied to regionals and was accepted. We then won regionals and received an offer to go to Nationals in Colorado. **Interesting note in regionals. If you make the finals you are told if you win go to the Awards tent to get your medal and Nationals acceptance letter. If you lose the Championship game go home. No finalist medals or anything.

Careful, too many questions might earn you the ire of "Your club/child didn't have to join/play in the SCCL." I do contend that joining SCCL feels a little too much like "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it." Meaning we will find out in the coming months what winning SCCL-P means I guess...i suspect it means nothing, just apply to US Club regionals like everyone else. I am very curious on the opinions with the families at CFC on the experience of playing in SCCL-P. As in why was your club roped with the ATL clubs vs the Carolina clubs and how did everyone feel about the travel and the like. Not dogging SCCL-P BTW, it's a fine league of low A/high B quality. It just nice to know what you're getting into.

Not dogging SCCL-P BTW, it's a fine league of low A/high B quality. It just nice to know what you're getting into. Wait, you want to know details BEFORE you commit to a club and/or team? That seems backwards from how just about all clubs around here work these days. In the past 5 years, at 2 different big clubs, we have never known much prior to signing. Practice schedules (including nights, locations & times) always come out weeks after signing. Tournament info typically comes out only weeks prior to tournaments instead of at the beginning of the year. Considering SCCL is run by the big clubs in the area, the poor communication doesn't surprise me.

It just nice to know what you're getting into. Yes, exactly! Hence my request for official communication from the SCCL/SCCL-P directly. In advance I apologize for the long winded post... here we go: [Rant ON] In our case we were told CFC 07B would be playing in SCCL (heck still advertised as such today www.carolinafc.net/Default.aspx?tabid=1208558 ). Who wouldn't want a chance to play against big ATL clubs teams w/o having to drive 2+ hours for DA or having to join CESA for the only ECNL team in our immediate area? Once we commited we were told it's actually SCCL-P. Wait, what? Ok maybe a club communication issue (strike #1). Thing is in our case we already had played against what happens to be some of today's SCCL teams and beat them (in tourneys or in case of CESA the SC league). So our concern now is we are playing in a mismatched league and the results kind of show it. For best players' development there is no point of beating (or being beaten by) everyone. So we ask if we shouldn't be playing in SCCL instead of SCCl-P and are told "yes but no worries, promotion to SCCL if we end up at top". Which we now understand is incorrect (strike #2). Again, some will point out it's a club miscommunication issue to which I am not disagreeing. All I've been asking is for formal communication from SCCL governing body so that speculations and false rumors stop. [Rant OFF]. Please understand what I care most if all the players' development. The league is run fine, travelling to ATL a few weekends here and there is acceptable (as long as it results into a win ! j/k). Communication however sucks, all the way around. Some of the parents (me included) are concerned in the fairness of having mismatched teams locked into a division when club internal promotion/relegation is not possible due to small club size. If a team is not good enough for the league, it can always choose not to participate. But if one is playing "down", the only outcome I foresee is unfair and unfavorable to everyone involved. Again I apologize for the long winded post. Thanks for reading.

You nailed the parity problem created by the lack of promotion/relegation, and what really makes the National League a far more competitive environment. Spots are guaranteed in SCCL or SCCL-P but lesser competition is the trade off for being in a club based league.

Threeoheight: I hear what you are saying, I feel for you. I have been in the dark about my kids soccer team before. I’m glad you reached out here to the forum and found out a few things. -there is no pro/rel -there really is not a ‘league office’; SCCL is run (if that is indeed the right term) by three big club DOCs out of Atlanta. -there is no year end cup or championship or finals specifically for SCCL-P, last year something was put together for SCCL in an effort to mimic the GA state cup with a round robin one week and finals the next week. But it wasn’t limited to SCCL teams, one team from TN won our bracket and then didn’t come back the next weekend. Our Athena A team ended up winning and getting the spot to Regionals (which I had never heard of before and I understand any US Club team can go). I’m guessing they will put something together again this year. Now that older ecnl and da are winding down for the year the DOCs who coach will have some time now to work on it. -SCCL was created by these big Atlanta clubs as a result of poor management of the R3PL league. Traveling down to FL to play another ATL team only to find out the fields weren’t reserved, for example. I really do not understand the impetus for SC clubs to leave their state league and join SCCL-P. I could be wrong but I don’t think it was the ATL clubs reaching out and inviting the SC clubs to join SCCL. I think it was more of some of the SC clubs getting together and asking if they could come in. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you and you child.

threeoheightFrustration understood, especially if you were sold SCCL and got SCCL-P. Since its a club-league rather than team league promotion was never a given. I think overall CFC as a club on the boys side probably finished about 3rd overall and on the girls side likely 6th-7th overall, even if there was pro/rel, CFC wouldn't likely be a club promoted. I think there should at the very least be an SCCL/SCCL-P medal or token for bracket winners like GA Soccer does. Some sort of reward the kids will understand. My underastanding is that in SC there is really only 1-2 USYS state leagues per age group (Classic and Presidents). If your club has 2 teams at every age group I'd petition the club to put top teams back into the SC state league (and 2nd team into SCCL-P), at least that way you have a chance at NL. On the East side of the SCCL-P bracket, paticipation is very spotty by club, only SCUFC has a team at every age group.
