November 9, 2019 Furman Men’s Soccer To Host Mercer In Sunday SoCon Semifinal Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men’s soccer team begins its quest for a Southern Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth when the top-seeded Paladins host No. 4 seed Mercer in semifinal round action Sunday at 1 p.m. on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium. The Paladins, 11-6-1 overall and 5-1-0 in SoCon play this season, clinched the No. 1 seed and SoCon regular season title with a 2-1 victory over Belmont at Stone Stadium in the regular season finale on November 2. The regular season title marked the 20th in school history and first since 2010 for Furman. Mercer (12-6-0) defeated No. 5 seed Wofford, 3-0, at Stone Stadium on Friday afternoon to earn its spot in the semifinals. Sunday’s match marks the 17th meeting between Furman and Mercer with the Bears holding an 8-5-3 series lead. Mercer claimed a 4-3 come-from-behind victory versus the Paladins in overtime on October 26, in Macon, Ga. Tickets for Sunday’s match are $5 and can be purchased online at FurmanPaladins.com or at the Stone Stadium entrance beginning one hour prior to kickoff. Students with a valid ID from a SoCon school receive free admission. The match will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network. With a victory on Sunday, Furman would advance to host the SoCon Championship Match on Saturday, November 16, at Stone Stadium.
