I actually had a parent say "You're absolutely right coach, my child does need to work harder if she wants to start" I almost fell out dead In order to get that response, it means that you actually had a conversation with either the player or parent that the child needed work harder. Good for you. Honestly, I think that is all anyone wants--feedback. I have always been accessible to parents and give whatever time I can to talk/answer questions, that being said you have to establish boundaries or people will try to monopolize your time.

Assistant coach, coached 3 of the girls in club, rules state you’re not allowed to do that. But it does not take away from what the girls accomplished on the field! At the end of the day it’s about the kids, they didn’t cheat, they didn’t have any illegal players it’s just a rule about coaching kids in club and high school. I wonder who reported them. I know of several teams that have had club coaches as their coaches. Players were on both their club roster & HS roster. At the very least they had been trained by the coach. Is this a new rule? Chamblee was the best team this year. Wish people would just let it be. It’s ridiculous to not let the players participate in varsity HS sports for a year. This is very common, it happens more than people realize. A number of coaches train their HS players in a club setting

I've been coaching in Atlanta for 20 years, I know just about everyone in the Atlanta soccer community. I can say without a shadow of a doubt Eddie is one of the most stand-up coaches around. He is emotionally invested and cares about his players, not to mention a great coach. Sorry to see him leave NTH but he will do well at CF. He will do well there for a few years and then he will move on until he finds a Director role. Everything appears to have been a stepping stone toward a bigger goal. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, everyone should be striving to better their situation.

* The role sports play in social justice - none * The importance of failing - if you learn from it * How to stand out in the hiring process - in today's age, the ability to check multiple minority boxes is key * Building a strong workplace culture - screen by merit and hire the nicest people you can find Saved you 30 minutes. “Athlete’s should just shut up and play ball” while I sit on my couch and express my thoughts for public consumption. The same people that tell athletes to "shut up and play" have no problem applauding Ted Nugent and Kid Rock whenever they open their ill informed mouths

All seems crazy with all these injuries. Something ain’t right. Even though the turf isn’t 100% at fault - get rid of it NOW!!! The game sucks on turf! Great for kids. Not great for professionals. When was the last time you saw an Achilles tear in premier league? Maybe it’s more common than in the think? 3 Achilles tears within a month and a half for Atlanta United- backup GK Dylan Castanheira, Brad Guzan and now miles. One on grass, the other two on turf. That's not normal.

Likely Achilles injury for Miles which would probably put him out of the WC Captain's band is cursed! Seriously though there is a slight chance he could make it back by then. Not great, but slight. Achilles rehab is more aggressive than it used to be. He is young too. I have sent a few younger people back to basketball by six months. WC rosters have to be submitted by October 20th which a little over five months, Gregg has to make a decision before then. I can't see any likely scenario that Miles is able to return from an Achilles in that time frame and be up to full fitness/speed.

I would suspect the bulk of the players that train at FG live in the area, it's an easy drive for the players that attend Lovett, HI, Pace, Westminster, etc True but if you live far like we do and your kid drives on 85 then 285 for an early practice it sucks. Was not an issue with the late practice tho. Easy peasy In regards to the NTH GK training they typically are held during the late session at FG, I'm one of the GK trainers out there during the week.

Tophat GA trains out of Metro Park, Franklin Gateway, Terrill Mill or Kings Ridgr Christian. Kings Ridge usually only one day per week. Times vary. So they train at 4 different locations throughout the week? I think I heard that their goalkeeper training is at Franklin Gateway. Does that sound correct? That is correct - there are several GK sessions each week at Franklin Gateway for the boys and girls

I'm not picking on interAtlanta, but this tweet highlights the issue more than ever. The system is so broke, why, why, why does one club need to be in 5 different leagues (yes, i know others are in the same position), but for what ever reason, this tweet stood out to me more..... Because they need to offer it in hopes of retaining their better players. At a certain age good players want to be surrounded by players of like ability and commitment, that's the challenge IA has when the players get to a certain age.

I heard TH has a lot of changes with coaching staff. Rumors heard … 09 Gold getting a new coach. I thought it was the current coach’s first year with that group? Apparently TC stepping out of the academy to coach 10 gold? I heard that group was special and dominated the dpl playing up an age this year Has anyone heard anything different or anything else? TC is not leaving TH Academy

What tourney and ages? Curious if that was by design or circumstance. Every tournament is always panicking for referees up to the last minute. For example, received an email at 9 am yesterday looking for a full crew for a 10 am alphabet league game... Tourney assigners emailing at midnight for 8 am kick offs after assigned referees turn back games. No skin in this one, just curious. Was the Vestavia tournament in Birmingham. I get a ref a shortage, maybe have three referees for the older age groups and one for the younger ones, but this seems like a concerted effort to just use one referee for every game just to save money.

Today for the first time I saw a tournament utilize one referee per field for every age group/gender for the entire weekend. I guess not using AR's is one way to increase revenue.

Always been a Pugh fan, want her to be successful on the national team for sure. crazy looking at the google map satellite view of sanford stadium, how tight those corners of the endzone really are. If you shortened the field by a few yards on each endline, It's possible you could squeeze it in. do it - federal law requires it if you have a professional soccer mls team and national championship winning football team in the same state. Its a new law if anyone was wondering They could play at GSU Stadium (Old Turner Field), if I'm not mistaken the dimensions could accommodate soccer

Sounds like the Atlanta United Training Grounds is being used by two of our very own US-WNT players to stay in shape. They have been plying their skills training with the fairer sex 🤭 Who do you ask? Well one of them is a local Gurl done good from Marietta and the other is fond of a World Series winning SS 🙂🙃🙂 Must be nice to know people in high places. Wasn’t one of these young ladies spotted out at a NASA park training some time ago? Guess when you get a ring, your training facility is upgraded? It’s always a lose/lose situation for men playing women. You are a fool to believe these dudes are going full throttle on these gals like they would a dude. Women will say seee girls are even better than boys are but they whine/lose their minds when trans enter girls competitions and win. Mallory Pugh and Emily Sonnett trained at NASA Tophat a number of times on the turf field, a number of local products were out there too including Andrew Carleton and several older Atlanta United Academy Players.

Given the recent spike, anyone know what USYS is or isn’t doing (ODP, National League Showcases, etc.)? At this juncture ODP is continuing as normal, we have numerous training sessions scheduled for this weekend.

There sure are a lot of people saying “*uck those fat people” now a days. Pretty ironic considering all the pearl clutching over non existent death panels “deciding to let grandma die” a few years ago.. We sure have become a selfish country. 100% true - most people don't care unless it directly impacts them. I see on FB or Twitter from the anti vaxxers and conspiracy theorists with the same refrain "but COVID only kills 1% of those infected" My reply is typically "if 1% isn't a big deal please tag 1 or 2 of your family members who you will be ok with losing", not surprisingly no one ever takes me up on that offer. Again those people don't care about that 1% until it hits close to home. Look at the hundreds of reports of children that are now orphans because both their parents literally died on that anti vax hill. Saw a post from Gov Kemp on FB today about his suit against the mask/vaccine mandate, the responses to his post clearly show why GA is typically near the worst nationally in terms of academic benchmarks. Some examples 1. Kids shouldn't wear masks in school because the lack of oxygen will diminish their brain development 2. Kids will develop speech impediments because they can't see the teachers mouth and won't learn to properly speak. We're never getting out of this mess because low information people are the most dangerous segment of society.

Glad he's forging his own path. He was always a reliable backup to Guuuuz I don’t know FCC goalkeeper situation. Do you think this gives him a better shot at being a starter? It’d be a shame if he goes there just to train and sit behind somebody else like he did here. I’m honestly ready for a new starting GK here. In a salary cap league it’s foolish to spend big dollars on an old GK with poor distribution skills. Brad is good but not great enough to justify tying up a bunch of salary cap space. He was offered the starting position in Cincinnati, you can't blame him though. He would likely sit behind Guzan for another two years and he wants to play. Rios Novo is capable of being a #2 for a few years in Atlanta.
