COVID related hospitalization rates are up 60% in GA, with the holidays here and large gatherings I would suspect that number to rise significantly over the next few months.
If NFL teams are postponing games due to lack of players, those same players who probably take more extreme safeguards than the average citizen, I would suspect it's going to get worse.

Unfortunately we live in a society where "it isn't our business" or people look the other way. If you expect parents to hold each other accountable that may be a big ask, most people will choose not to interfere.

I've had my share of yelling across the field to refs over what I thought/knew were bad or missed calls. But at the same time it's human nature, I just want them to be consistent on both sides. I see the officiating of a soccer match similar to a baseball umpire. Balls and strikes can always be questioned but atleast set the tone for how your going to call a game and be consistent. We all know good refs when we have them and typically we appreciate them for their impartiality. Too much home cooking going on around and it just becomes blatantly obvious at times which causes the most issues. Want to hear some home cooking? We were at a game in Florida this past weekend. We have played for 2 years in this league with water breaks every time it is hot (sometimes we even get them when we don't need them). Every time in every location we have had a water break they do not add those 2 minutes back in. Yesterday at an away game we had a water break first half with no extra time added (as has been standard). We are the away team winning 1-0 and the CR adds FOUR minutes to the end of the game!!! Basically adding BOTH water breaks into the second half! COME ON dude! That is crap! Luckily it did not matter and we still won but that was ridiculous home cooking! Oh and in the previous game where the home team was winning 2-1 he did not add any time for the water breaks. There were no injuries or any other possible reasons for him to add any extra time. Most referees that I have encountered will tell you before the game that the clock will continue to run during water breaks and typically they do not add that time back, once the time hits 25, 30 or 45 minutes that's it.

Good article by Jorginho www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/jorginho-premier-league-chelsea-italy-soccer“ Our rooms were filthy. We ate the same food three times a day. The showers had no hot water, not even in winter. Outside, local gangs would try to rob us. But the worst part was when the cleaning lady stopped working. There’s no pretty way of saying this but, when you go to the toilet, right? And you do number two? Well, at this place, if you threw the paper in the toilet it could get stuck, so you threw it in a bin. But when the bin wasn’t emptied for several weeks, well … yeah, you get the idea. This was my football camp in Guabiruba, Brazil. I was living more than 100 miles away from my family. I was 13 years old, man. “ … This right here is one of the reasons we won't win a MNT World Cup in our lifetime. In other countries soccer is a way out for a better life and because of that they make huge sacrifices and struggle to reach their goals, here soccer is not an avenue for a better life as most of the players are financially well off anyway.

Still trying to figure out what exactly is beyond repair... Him breaking a rule or who he broke the rules with? Likely both- if he invited someone outside of the team into the team hotel that is a COVID protocol violation and a team rule violation, that decision alone is enough to kick him off the team. Now the other alleged incident- sleeping with a teammate's sister (rumor is CP's sister) is another thing entirely. If it was CPs sister that could have long lasting ramifications within the team and force Gregg to exclude Weston in the future.

Further reports is that he didn't leave the hotel but let someone in from outside the team...that person is reported to be Pulisic's sister 😲

Reports now coming out that Weston slept with a teammate's sister. Although unconfirmed several people are reporting that, combined with his lack of discipline during the pandemic, it may be time for him to move on. If you listen to Landon Donovan's comments re: McKennie on Grant Wahl's podcast, it sounds like it could be what you're saying is being reported. LD wouldn't say what it was, which tells me it's sensitive. In may original post I mentioned the same thing, LD saying the issue is almost beyond repair gives credence to the reported incident. Sounds just like a local boy who too was immensely talented but couldn't get out of his own way

Weston McKinnie sent home by Gregg Berhalter for violating team rules, will not play vs Honduras.
Landon Donovan says he's privy to what happened with Weston and that he was extremely disappointed and said he was irresponsible. Landon also said this situation is almost "beyond repair" 😟
Someone in Weston's camp needs to tell him so hard truths. Stuff like this is probably why Juve is shopping him. He already was busted for hosting a party in Italy in which the police were called.

Easy answer- the anti maskers/anti vaxxers. At least those that are getting vaccinated are trying to be productive and contributing members of society, in addition showing they are about others. What are you blaming anti vaxxers for? Again, both vaccinated and unvaccinated people are spreading covid. I would get your point if the vaccine was designed to stop the spread but it is just designed to reduce the severity of the symptoms. Again... I'll say this slowly for the people that refuse to understand...just like seatbelts, motorcycle helmets, flu vaccines, etc NOTHING is 100% effective, its about MINIMIZING the risk and effects in case you do get the virus. 95%+ of the people in hospitals with severe symptoms are unvaccinated patients. Vaccines work- ever wonder why we don't have rampant cases of smallpox, measles and polio anymore?

yea - a big misconception about the vaccine - The goal of vaccination wasn't to eradicate covid-19, it is/was to prevent serious infections that lead to hospitalizations and mortality. 100% this! So tired of the Facebook infectious disease experts saying "but you can still get COVID with the vaccine" I'll say this slowly for the people that refuse to understand...just like seatbelts, motorcycle helmets, flu vaccines, etc NOTHING is 100% effective, its about MINIMIZING the risk and effects in case you do get the virus. 95%+ of the people in hospitals with severe symptoms are unvaccinated patients. Typically just the player in question quarantines for 7-10 days, I haven't heard of an entire team at TH that's had to quarantine.

The best coach depends on the age and skill level of your kid. Ron Apollon is an excellent coach in that he really focuses on the fundamentals and technique. He was our son's coach from U9-U13 and was great for him. Only drawback is that he doesn't doo private instruction very often and he provides GK training for NASA-Tophat. We did some training at TOCA with Dylan Maynard one winter. Nice guy, but can't comment too much about how good he is simply because of the limited training we did with him. Felipe Quintero is with Concorde. His sessions are very intense and incorporates a lot of movement drills. Lots of touches on the ball, probably not as much focus on technique, but very challenging. Best for top level keepers at whatever age group. My children have done a lot of work with both Dylan and Filipe recently....they focus on different things, but both are great at their craft. I will say this....as a parent, I want strong role models for my kids. I want teachers who are absolutely passionate about your child developing. I want coaches who have charisma and energy. I always approach it as a parent first. We've had a few lemons along the way, but fortunately those are the exceptions not the rule. My advice parent to parent is track any of these coaches down and talk to them. Ron, Filipe, Dylan, Shawn are all approachable people. Truly good people. Figure out what is best for your child in terms of personality, scheduling, etc. If one of these is not a fit, that's OK......try another until you figure out what is best for your child. At the end of the day, we are all parents here. We love our children and we love soccer too. You have some good starting points. Feel free to DM me offline if you want additional insights Thank you for the kind words 🙏

Who makes women's cleats? Under Armour and New Balance? You're not serious are you? Nike and Adidas have made female specific cleats for years.

Something else people overlook is there have been studies in regards to the type of cleats worn by female soccer players, oftentimes many pre adult female soccer players wear smaller men's cleats where the arches and heels aren't shaped/supported as well as wearing cleats designed for a female foot.

If you haven't been you should check out the Atlanta Panthers Women's Team that plays in the UWS league, quite a few local girls on the team as well. They play at Life University. First home game last weekend had a good crowd.

Speaking for NTH at the academy level we don't drop players down for girls teams, often times our White and Blue teams are playing in the top two brackets at tournaments. I will say there was a club that shall remain nameless that played their SCCL team in the second bracket this past weekend, probably to avoid playing the NTH Gold team...that's trophy hunting. The biggest disappointment were their parents running up and down the sideline acting like they won the world cup after beating a clubs third level team. With NTH I was more stating that I have seen times at the academy ages where they make a super team in a tournament where they pull top players from other locations to play on the top team. There is nothing wrong with this practice IMO. My kids have been at big 6 clubs for 5 years and we have seen many teams make tournament teams. I really don't think that is a bad thing. This year with low numbers we have seen teams pool resources more than in the past. Again I don't have an issue with this. I do have an issue with trophy hunting. That being said teams do not have 100% control over their placement. Sometimes they put an over qualified team in a lower bracket. Though I have seen placements that I know were requested by teams as I have been a TM for many years and know many other TM's. This was a UFA team at their own tournament,of course they can control the bracket

Yes. I agree with all of the above. At the academy ages sometimes it is an issue of numbers as well. If you are playing 9v9 and you have 10 kids on your roster it makes sense to have 11 or 12 for a tournament because they play multiple games in a day and kids get sick and hurt and you don't want no subs or to play down a man (I have seen both and it stinks). A lot of the times it is not for extra subs or numbers though. Sometimes it is for the win. Especially clubs with many teams and multiple locations (NTH, UFA, GSA, CF, SSA) Speaking for NTH at the academy level we don't drop players down for girls teams, often times our White and Blue teams are playing in the top two brackets at tournaments. I will say there was a club that shall remain nameless that played their SCCL team in the second bracket this past weekend, probably to avoid playing the NTH Gold team...that's trophy hunting. Not true at all, depends on the coach at NTH What higher up team doesn't? My posts was in regards to your comment that lower level teams don't work on technical skills, my response was depends on the coach, there are a number of NTH Navy and White teams that could beat the top team at a number of clubs.

on the girls side at NTH ... the higher up teams have technical drills incorporated in their warm ups. Unfortunately that gets lost the lower you go. Not true at all, depends on the coach at NTH
