That's how they get you, they know people are hungry for sports right now and NBC is putting the better matches behind a paywall

Yea - current team has done a job like non other. Falcons/Braves/hawks aren’t nearly on the same level. But to be fair - year 1 & 2 sold itself given the product that was on the field. Easy cheesy. And the fact that you can take a family of 5 to a game for $150-$200 vs a single ticket to a NFL game. But billboards, decals, signs, flags, promotions, give aways have been spot on. They have a clever team for sure and a strong digital graphic presence. Skate is still around right? Skate is no longer with AU, she's working for Adidas now

Not 08 related, necessarily, but and overall ODP comment... If you can bend someone's ear that has control over these things: + Why training on Friday nights when most kids are playing games on Saturday? I would think Sunday evening or even a Monday evening would be a good time (anecdotally- we've never had Monday training w/ club and neither have friends at other clubs). + Training should be at least once a week. + More games. Only having regional, etc. is a bit odd. Plenty of clubs in the metro area would scrimmage against the ODP teams. Also, with friends out of state, their ODP teams seem to play games a lot - whether friendlies with local clubs or friendlies with other state ODPs. + Why the HUGE pool? And if you have that many kids - more games, please!!! Just suggestions... ;-) Every year my kids have played club soccer with 3 (or more) trainings per week we have had Monday trainings (that has been with three different clubs over an 8 year period and 2 kids playing). Both kids have Mondays now. Occasionally they will have Mondays canceled to allow for rest after a travel weekend or tournament but generally Mondays we train with our team. I do agree that Friday nights are tough especially if there is an early Saturday game and for many players they may miss due to travel. There is no perfect day though. I agree with the remainder of your comments about more friendlies and games. I think once per week training is tough but twice per month during season would work and once per week in off season sounds good Friday nights are best to ensure max attendance, most coaches don't want their players training on Sat/Sun on days they have games, depending on the level of the club teams the players are on they may be out of town on Sat/Sun. Additionally since we practice at the Atlanta United training facility we have to coordinate with their schedules, I assume most of the fields are being used on the weekends. ODP practices are different than club practices, many coaches are doing heavy fitness with and without the ball while we are working on phases of play, teaching possession and other tactics....which is probably less impactful on the body than a regular club practice. For the 08s we have a larger pool to accommodate three teams for events and games, players will have club obligations on the weekends and miss events, it's rare that we have every player attend for ODP games. Also you expect some natural attrition as they get older. When we coached the 2002 Boys at U12 we eventually had 17 players picked for the Region Pool and many of them ended up going on to play for Atlanta United, so we lost a number of players the following year.

I work with the current 08 Boys Pool, it's my understanding there will be other methods of identification this year in lieu of the formal tryout process and that players may be added. Please be on the lookout for information in the coming weeks.

I've known Kostas for 11 years as I worked with him at Tophat and with ODP, one of the best and most standup people involved in GA Soccer. Great opportunity for him.

Or get a refund on your season tix and not renew. That’s what I decided to do and glad I did. I’m agnostic in these political issues and I want my entertainment to be fun. Seems I’m not alone as AU is losing Instagram followers big time. What a shame. Great job. You killed the goose that laid the golden egg. You must be new to soccer and sports I'm general, soccer has ALWAYS been political from the Franco regime, to Catalonian independence, Protestants vs Catholics, elites vs working class, etc soccer has always been wrapped in politics. From John Carlos, Tommie Smith, Jim Brown, Ali, Billie Jean King, Pat Tillman, Colin Kaepernick, Lebron James...athletes have always spoken up in regards to politics and human rights issues. It's amazing that people only have a problem with it when the person speaking doesn't look like them or doesn't agree with their political biases. If Ted Nugent and Kid Rock can make awful music and not have to "stick to music" athletes shouldn't be expected to "stick to sports" either.

If someone was dragging my name through the mud and attacking my character you better believe I would be speaking up if it wasn't true. I think ACs account of events is sketchy at best, there is clearly a pattern of behavior and bad choices, if the passport incident was a one time thing then maybe his rebuttal would be believable. Also the day after missing the trip to Toronto he posted an Instagram story at a pool party in DC. Obviously he's entitled to do whatever he wants during his free time but optics matter and given the passport incident the day prior that wasn't a good look.

I'm not sure it was a retirement, from the email Jacob sent it seemed like a sudden decision and he and his wife Tara are leaving GA Soccer.

Again there are many other factors- do the kids go to school together? Do kids get carpools after practice, maybe a parent had it? Again I don't think you can definitely say where a person was infected. NTH has mandated all coaches, staff and parents must wear a mask while at the fields. Parents aren't typically allowed at practices anyway (at least at Buckhead) so for games parents are expected to wear masks on the sidelines. I completely agree with you on that being able to pinpoint where you contracted the virus. However, is it now a new policy that parents can't stay around for practice at Buckhead? Because last season our team practiced out of Buckhead and it was a good amount of parents out there watching on the side between the ditch and parking lot. Parents can still stay in the parking lot and by the fence line as has been the policy in the past, they are well and far enough away to mitigate any close proximity to fields

That will never happen because no one can scientifically pinpoint where someone got infected, it's about minimizing the potential risks. If one kid test positive on a team and then within a week several other people on the same team test positive, we can relate it back to being as part of that team. See as examples Camp High Harbour, choir practice in Washington, 2 funerals in Albany, FC Dallas, Nashville, Florida Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals. You are a coach at NTH and the teams have been practicing for weeks now. Have there by team wide outbreaks? I have people at several clubs and even teams that had to pull out of the Nike Select Cup due to Covid do not have a group of people that have tested positive. Normally it is one person and the rest have to quarantine for 14 days. Again there are many other factors- do the kids go to school together? Do kids get carpools after practice, maybe a parent had it? Again I don't think you can definitely say where a person was infected. I hope the parents and kids who get coronavirus at one of these games express the same sentiment that having the coronavirus just “feels right.” Somehow I don’t think that is going to happen though.😂😂 Have you know anyone who has gotten coronavirus while playing soccer? I have yet to hear of anyone. Even teams that have had to quarantine as a result of one player having it, I have yet to hear about anyone on the team being infected by that person. That will never happen because no one can scientifically pinpoint where someone got infected, it's about minimizing the potential risks.

I had inside info from a credible source that most of the clubs were canceling tryouts, which proved to be factual after everyone doubted it. I also am aware of other clubs that will not have tryouts but have delayed making it public because they don't want their players to shop around.
I don't want to get into the politics of it but how can anyone say its safe to return to play? These DOCs are not infectious disease experts. If schools are closed, six flags, etc I can't envision a scenario where having hundreds of kids at one venue any given night is the right decision under current circumstances.

Look for this to change in the coming hours. Its my understanding the all metro Atlanta clubs are canceling tryouts. Cancelling because? The restrictions are too much? Do you have any insider info on why they’d be cancelled with return to play being allowed? I haven't seen a return to play directive from GA Soccer or US Soccer. As I posted earlier its my understanding from a very credible source that all Metro Atlanta clubs are cancelling tryouts. NTH and AFU have already made the announcement.

Older example but Cobi Jones did not receive a single D1 offer to play soccer in college, walked on at UCLA and went on to become a USMNT legend

If CONCACAF and CONMEBOL were to merge the US would turn into San Marino or the Faroe Islands, we would never qualify for the World Cup unless they took 10-12 teams.
The National Team isnt there to develop players, that's on each players respective club team. The biggest problem isn't the competition in CONCACAF it's the environment in which the players train and compete on a daily basis, our players need to be playing in the best leagues possible not coming home for a retirement check.... I'm looking at you Bradley and Altidore 👀

I am still relatively new to the area. I learned tonight that my sons' goalie training are getting moved around and the potential new times/locations are likely not going to fit with my work schedule. I was wondering if any of you have recommendations of a private goalie coach that is potentially in the Sandy Springs/East Cobb/Roswell area. Any input would be greatly appreciated. 👋

Kudos to you then. Originally I had a 10K as a base number but rounded up to 1K a month. I think that would be a minimum at the big clubs. Try double or triple that for many coaches at the big clubs who coach multiple teams

Anyone else heard this?

I wonder if the US National Team members on the Athletes Council would vote differently today. It’s kind of funny, at least to me, remember their vote (weighted vote election process) basically elected Carlos Cordiero President of US Soccer. Athletic Council current members Chris Ahrens (Chair) Yael Averbuch Carlos Bocanegra (Vice-Chair) Brian Ching Landon Donovan Brad Guzan Kevin Hensley Stuart Holden Meghan Klingenberg Ali Krieger Lori Lindsay Alex Morgan John O'Brien (USOC, Alternate) Heather O'Reilly Nick Perera Becky Sauerbrunn Gavin Sibayan, Jonathan Spector Lindsay Tarpley Aly Wagner (USOC) If they were unhappy with Gulati then why vote unanimously for his right hand man and expect something different than the status quo?

They were trying to find a way to do it, but there is no wi-fi at the fields, so unfortunately it’s not going to happen. Congrats to UFA!! Any updates on the NTH 04 game? NTH lost in the finals on PKs
