I have heard this as well. But there was a Concorde 04 girls team at the AFC tournament last month.

I drove by this area today and can report that nothing is happening.
With a little mowing and striping, you could have some grass fields on par with some we see here. But there is no turfing going on.

I haven’t taken the time to look at the current rules on this. However, I know I’ve read in the past that once you are rostered on a team, you are considered to be the age of that team for the seasonal year. The player may not be able to transfer to a younger team. That’s something you might want to research.
Most of the time in these situations, players get a transfer, not a release. But you can’t transfer to a younger team (even if that is your actual age group).
I know that it used to be that you could initiate a transfer on your own through the ADG (or whatever it’s called now). I’m not sure if you can initiate a release.
Again, haven’t looked at the rules in a few years, but that might give you an idea of where to start looking.

We went to a meet-the-player event and have a picture with a player listed at 5’10”. He is absolutely dwarfed in a picture with my 13-year-old who isn’t quite 5’9”. It’s kind of comical.

Franklin Gateway is really nice. I don’t think there were concessions or t-shirts yesterday, but they were there today.
However, I was shocked to see parents SCREWING beach umbrellas into the turf. This is why we can’t have nice things.

A lot of these issues with parents would be alleviated if everyone observed what I think should be basic soccer parent etiquette— sit on the sideline across from your team’s bench. When everyone is mixed up together, there’s trouble.
Also, take the time to watch a match where you have “no skin in the game.” Occasionally I happen to be at a field where one of my sons is reffing, so I’ll stop and watch for a bit. Fortunately, my boys have thick skins, and I’m the type of parent who views the abuse they take from grownups as a life lesson.
When you do this, you will realize that most things soccer parents say on the sidelines sound pretty dumb, and you will keep your own mouth shut a lot more.

KSA and Storm sponsor a tournament together with another small club. Maybe that’s what prompted someone thinking there was a merger. I think the smaller clubs are just trying to stick together to stay afloat. Storm is also going to do Super Y with Henry Co.

The player will be rostered with their age group and then club passed to the select team for games. This the only way the player will still be allowed to play with their age group. Unless the rule has changed, I believe the limit is three club pass players per game on a team.

It seems to me that if you read the releases, these latest announcements are a new program -- a development program to identify, develop, and promote talent to AU. The original partnerships were more of a marketing program to sell tickets and provide on-field experiences. I'm sure that program will continue to exist.

I know of AFC and Inter Atlanta, who I believe was the first to announce. I'm not sure about NASA.

I guess I misunderstood our registrar then, or she is mistaken on the rules. I've read the rules myself, and they seem to back up the understanding that State Cup players must be on the certified Georgia Soccer roster, but there are parts of the rules that are a bit unclear. I'd be interested to know what part of the rules addresses guest players.

My understanding is that there are no guest players at State Cup. Players can be transferred to your roster from other clubs, but that transfer needs to take place officially through Georgia Soccer. The players need to be on your certified Georgia Soccer roster. You are allowed club pass players though -- players from within your club currently rostered on lower level teams. The instructions and rules are available in the documents section of the State Cup website.

Also, if there are any cards given in the game, make sure that the player(s) who was/were given the card(s) and the reason for the card is clear on both game cards. There are specific codes on the Sports Affinity website that need to be entered, and both team managers must enter the same information. If they don't, you end up with the scores that read a 0 (zero) with a red CC (contested card) next to it.

Yes. The club is getting a kickback.
It's also very difficult to police if teams are staying at non-tournament approved hotels. We've done it before. But there is that benefit of a full refund if there is a rainout to consider.
