LOL - we're not playing a preseason tournament in GA so I really have no dog in that hung. Hope you get your games in. Here's somehting to break the silence - Refund Policies of all upcoming tournements (I have been on the worlds most boring Webex all afternoon - -this multi-tasking project kept me sane). Interesting though how some tournaments state they will give half back and others just say 'NO REFUNDS'. Even GA Soccer does this with Atlanta Cup -why is precedent set to keep half the funds for something that doesn't happen? It's been that way since we've been playing so any insight on this practice would be great. Anyway - for your reading enjoyment - the refund rules of all upcoming GA tournaments from their websites: ..... When a club puts in the "Permission to Host" for a tournament GA Soccer is REQUIRING verbiage in the rules which deal with weather / refund policy.

Tournaments keep some of the funds to cover overhead costs. They may take the hit by making no profit from the tournament, but certainly are not prepared to lose money on it. Keeping 50% is usually enough to cover all costs and possibly make a small profit. Dreaddy is right. I get the impression people think it's easy to run a large event. You just can't make everyone happy. (Or anyone happy... ) Just because games aren't played doesn't mean clubs haven't worked months in advance.

.... Kind of makes sense this way so that the field schedulers don't have to do double work when errors are spotted after they've done their part. By the end of next week everyone will know what days and where they play, weather permitting. You might not know the time, but at least you'll have something to plan around. My big appeal to the parents/players - If you see that you are playing some time on October when your class is going on a big weekend field trip, please let your coach know NOW so he can do something about it. This is one of my pet peeves, telling the coach on Thursday that you won't be at Saturday's game because of a school event which you knew about months in advance. I have sent all my coaches their pairings so we can start getting things right for them. Pretty difficult to be 2 places at the same time.

The schedule was kinda up for a little while and it's down again. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to run a large tournament, but this is crazy. Their referee assignor must be on the verge of a heart attack. Not to mention how many unhappy customers. Their out of state teams must be lighting up the phones and emails.

Pooling is an Academy thing. I like the pooling concept, but everyone needs to be "IN" - parents AND coaches. Way too many egos spoil the concept. My son has done both - he's a top level player. Didn't like it for him because the skill level in his pool forced the top skilled players to "wait" for the lesser skilled players to catch up. My daughter has also done well in a pooling of 2 similarly skilled teams and she's a mid level player. So it can work but typically parents don't buy into the not knowing which "team" you'll play games on until the last minute which tends to happen when players are pooled. Just my two cents.

I would think with U12's you are on your honor. Many clubs pool all their academy players into one team.

UFA & NSA Announce Merger FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 31, 2014 Dear Club Members, As representatives of one of the most successful soccer organizations in the state of Georgia, we continually seek ways to offer the best in soccer for our community’s recreational, intermediate and advanced players. In an effort to increase opportunities and provide an even greater level of service, we are pleased to announce the merger of United Futbol Academy (United FA) and Norcross Soccer Academy (NSA). The combined strengths of each organization will provide a superior soccer program at all levels of play, making this already widely popular sport even more accessible. The combined resources of each organization will also enable all soccer players in our communities to enjoy soccer at their level of enjoyment and compete at their highest level of ability. United FA will be under the leadership of our current Executive Board: Iggy Moleka, Gaucho Pinho, Don Schultz, and Deo Moleka. Tony Annan will also join the Executive Board as a valuable addition to the United leadership. The leadership brings many years of combined experience in training, development and the operations management of a soccer program. United FA and NSA will continue operating through the end of the Spring 2014 Season. No changes will be made with teams or uniforms during this period. Combined tryouts will be held starting in May 2014 and all of the current facilities will be available for use of this event as well as in the future. All team formations will be determined for Fall 2014 during this combined tryout process. United FA will be open for registration in April 2014 and will also show the anticipated coaching assignments for the Fall 2014 season in May. The United FA and NSA will cease operations as independent organizations by the end of May 2014. When both clubs opened up communication last fall, it became clear that we were both working toward the same goals and it made sense that creating a single club could offer a much higher level of service to the youth soccer community. By pooling our resources together, a greater opportunity exists for a more cohesive soccer presence in the area and to learn some best practices from UFA and NSA. If you have further questions, please email us at Deo@unitedfa.org. We look forward to serving you and this community for years to come. Soccer in College can only rank your team on what they "know" about your team. Results can be skewed - for example, your TM does not input League Scores at all or only inputs WINS (yeah, honestly some do that). So it's not perfect as we all are aware.
Tournament performance is also kind of skewed - sometimes you get placed in a division which is wrong for your team and you kick ass, and sometimes you get placed in a division and you are on the receiving end of the ass kicking, and sometimes the event has a good fit for your team. Again, not a great indication of your team's "ranking."
Coaches tend to know the level of the local tournaments and hopefully have your TM apply to tournaments which are a good fit for your team and contact the tournament director if your team is placed unfavorably.

Correct -
From the Rules / Club Pass Policy
Can a player play in a division above his current level of play?
Yes, Athena and Classic division players may use the Club Pass System to play either in the same age group at a higher division of play or in an older age group at the same or higher division of play. A player may not play up an age group but in a lower division. Academy U12 players may use the Club Pass System to play on their club‟s U13 first and/or second team only. U-14 Recreation players can use the Club Pass System to play for a U-16 team. U16 and above recreation players may use the Club Pass System to play with an older division team in the Recreation Program only.
