Our team finished top of their league by beating an ATL team. So just today I hear from ATL parents about how we got ourselves a spot in Regionals. Wait, what?!

After looking at the SCCL results for the season I noticed a lot of lopsided games. Will this mitigate or continue in the future. Also what are good alternative to SCCL teams at the U14 level.

Find a club with NPL or research the U14 teams that will be Piedmont Conference for U15, both would be a step up from SCCL On the girls side the Rising U15 Georgia Piedmont teams guaranteed a spot will be Interatlanta, Roswell Santos and CFC Red Star.

So, that is SCCL-P if I am looking at it correctly. Not sure I would believe the parents of the ATL team if that is the case. However, nobody seems to know what, if anything, the SCCL-P fall champions receive. So, it is possible a trip to Regionals is the reward. I would wait until I heard that from my coach or TM before getting too excited though.

Boys or Girls? I saw a recommendation for NPL. On the boys side: SCCL - the best team won with an average score of 2.15 goals for, and 0.54 goals against. +1.61 goal margin of victory NPL - the best team won with an average score of 3.93 goals for, and 1.53 goals against. +2.40 goal margin of victory SCCL - the worst team lost with an average score of 0.50 goals for, and 2.75 goals against. -2.25 goal margin of loss NPL - the worst team lost with an average score of 0.13 goals for, and 5.53 goals against. -5.40 goal margin of loss These are just numbers. Make all the arguments you want about quality of play in NPL, SCCL, etc. But going to NPL because you believe there's better parity... At this age group, for the boys, that's a failed argument.

The ATL team parents I talked to were pretty sure about it, this is what they were told. Noone told our club anything aboit it though. I personally have no expectations FWIW.

Its a failed argument everywhere. I just looked at SCCL-1 and NL scores. Assuming we will call a 4-goal loss a blowout...
In SCCL-1 (boys and girls), there was a blowout every 7 games (1 out of every 7 games was a 4-goal differential). In NL Piedmont (boys and girls), there was a blowout every 5 games (1 out of every 5 games had a 4-goal differential). I think you'd find similar numbers in NPL.
NL played more games overall due to the boys side having 2 divisions. The larger blowout differentials occurred on the NL side (more 8+ goal differentials). There's really good and pretty bad teams in every league.
IMO the only relevant questions are "How good is the coaching which your child is receiving?" and "Is your child enjoying the experience?"

Yeah, there's no communication to this end. I think we can ASSUME that your child's team will get an automatic bid to US Club Regionals in June without having to apply for a spot.

I don't know if that is a league communication issue or a club communication issue. Our club (in Metro ATL) has not made us as parents aware of anything related to winning SCCL. My guess is the league has communicated it with the clubs. From there some have communicated to the parents and others have not. That is just a guess on my part though.

Semi-related...does anyone know if state cup will be open to US Club registered teams again this year? To play in the state cup the team must have played in a Georgia Soccer affiliated league so that would be only US youth soccer affiliated teams (Athena and national league)and would exclude US club teams, so no SCCL or ecnl teams. That’s why us club soccer had their own SCCL cup last May. Of course you will still get some Teams “guest” play some us club players to falsely strengthen their Georgia soccer affiliated team (example rival mills Tophat team from last season, and they still lost)

My understanding was that after GA soccer lost the US Club challenge to its mandate to kick SCCL clubs out/prevent entry into the national league, Georgia soccer invited NPL and SCCL teams to play in state cup.
None took them up and decided to stick with the pointless pay twice NTH/UFA => GSA tournament thing. Did that tournament even have trophies? State cup may be weaker in competition these days, but it's still a nice tournament with nicer trophies and medals than most of the other tournaments.
