Im curious about the average number of games for different leagues. I hear that ECNL boys play about 20 games in the Fall, and heard that NL Piedmont play anywhere from 7 to 13 games. That seems like a HUGE difference. Im wondering what the rest of you know... P.S.Im sure this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything on the forum search. P.P.S.Playing 7-8 games seems VERY light.

SCCL plays 14 regular games not including tournaments. My daughter team will be in 2 college showcases so a minimum of 6 more games. So 20 games in the fall

U15B NPL- 18 matches this fall and season goes through second week in Jan for their regular league matches. Add in one preseason tourney and 2 showcases gives them 27 matches from Aug- Jan.

With the follow-up posts, that's less of a disparity than I would have thought. At the academy level, we experienced a couple seasons where the club had a robust fall schedule, but a pretty thin spring schedule.

The average DA team averages about 30 games but keep in mind they play for 10 months over fall and spring. The doesn't count scrimmages or tourneys (if allowed) showcases or the playoffs if they make it...

At the older ages, ECNL pushes all of the games in the fall with a few outliers in the spring. This is because these kids play HS. At the younger ECNL teams they play until mid-May.
It's beyond Hectic, but you gotta deal with the seasons.

Thanks everyone. Based on the quick replies, it seems that 14 games is a good baseline number of games for Fall season (not including Tournaments).

My daughter's SCCL team will play 14 regular season games starting next weekend and ending sometime in November. In addition, we have already played in 2 tournaments totaling 7 games, and we will have 2 more in November/December (6 games minimum).
So, we are looking at around 27 games for the fall. I am guessing it will be about the same for the spring.

I think GA Soccer (and possibly USYS) is under the assumption that we only want 9-11 games? The thing thats different about US Club leagues that make them more appealing is they're giving 14+ games a season (ECNL, NPL, SCCL, SCCL-P).
I don't know why GA soccer doesn't go with the idea they had last fall to spread the divisions out horizontally, but do it right. There should be 7 teams per division, playing 12 games home-and-home. Probably 1-2 A/I brackets, 2-4 B/II brackets, 4-8 C/III brackets, etc. Crown divisional champions and then seed into an end-of-fall tournament for bracket champions A/B/C/D etc. Then seed these into state cup (in December on turf). The big 7 would hardly participate, so who cares if it interferes with their tournaments.

Word on da street is that the u12 / 2008 Alabama SCCL teams may not have two teams like the rest. So instead of 16 games (9 clubs; play 8 clubs twice), could be 14 if team “A” and team “B” split between 1 team for BUSA and VHSC.
