Shout out to the UFA Norcross ’05 (SCCL) team that lost 0-2 in the NASA Tophat Girl’s Classic final to SSA Chelsea Select Black (NPL). This was a winless UFA team last season that also had a girl on the bench with a broken arm, a guest coach, two players literally in the hospital from the day’s earlier match, and another player went out when an SSA player purposely took out her knees (red-card issued, 8 minutes chewed off the clock, no stoppage time awarded, + not sure why the SSA girls high-fived their penalized player as she left the field). The SSA team had also outscored their previous opponents 25-1! In any event, these scrappy UFA Norcross gals showed a lot of fight and a lot of heart. They should hold their heads high and be recognized for coming a long way with very few practices together. Kudos, ladies! The future looks bright...

Honestly me thinks SSA is not teaching soccer but a youth version of MMA. Good for UFA-N, finally some good news.

That SSA team was rough, we played them Saturday. The UFA team is going to do very well this season, their goalkeeper is amazing, especially considering her size.

We have played that SSA team and they are a nasty bunch. They also taunt and cuss at opponents like a bunch of brats. I don't know how good they are this year or how many new players they have, but they have some truly horrid girls on that team. The story about them high fiving their red carded teammate is unbelievable! Frankly I am shocked that a girl from that age group was red carded...I have posted on other threads how rare it is to see girls carded, especially straight red.

Sounds like they performed well under the circumstances. I’m shocked a red card was handed out. It is so rare with the girls. Kudos to the ref. What happened to land two girls in the hospital??

Honestly me thinks SSA is not teaching soccer but a youth version of MMA. Good for UFA-N, finally some good news. Please don't speak in generalities. I am willing to bet I have seen more SSA teams play than you have. They are not taught to be nasty or play "MMA" style. For every SSA team that plays physical or even "dirty" I can name you at least 1-2 in every organization in Metro Atlanta from the other big 5 to the smaller clubs.

Concussions + Concerns about neck injuries... from a physical, but not dirty (there is a difference), game earlier that day vs "NTH Tophat White QP". Making the decision to take out a girl's knees is just $#!TY and I hope the ref does the right thing and reports it properly.

I hope those girls are ok. And I completely agree that there is a difference in playing physical and playing dirty. I like watching a good physical match but get infuriated by dirty play! Good luck to your daughter’s team this year.

What's up with that SSA NPL team all of a sudden? They were bottom-ish of the table in NPL last year. Now all of a sudden they have score lines of 7-0, 11-1 and 7-0. We played them in our U13 and U14 years in tourneys and they were good, but not 7-0 and 11-1 good. Is this the same team that was an Athena B team at u13 and then moved to NPL at U14?

Oh please! Don't group all of SSA into one category.

I remember when my daughter used to play SSA. One dad would yell for his daughter to break someone's teeth that he would pay for it. Another mom would try to fight parents and tell them to meet her in the parking lot.
The coach heard it all and didn't care

Fair enough to not lump all the SSA teams into one basket, but I do know when my kids played SSA we always made sure they had their shin-guards, concussion head-gear and mouth-pieces in place along with some Advil and loads of ice 🤣🤣🤣

Also, that UFA Norcross team (made up of 5 girls from last year's AFU NL team, 4 girls from GSA, 6 holdovers from UFA, 1 from Tophat and one from KSA) tied GSA 05 SCCL 1-1 and took out SSA SCCL 3-1 this past weekend.
That team WILL beat GSA when they play again and UFA is healthy.
The two concussions were not dirty plays; however, the knee takeout was 100% dirty. That girl may be out another 4 weeks!
Coach Claude is doing a fantastic job.

So after 5 games the new UFA-Norcross o5 SCCL TEAM IS 2-1-2 with those 4 girls out for most of these games. The two girls who had been out with concussions played their first two games this weekend. The kid who strained her MCL from the dirty play of the SSA player may return next week. The final girl will also be ready for her first game this weekend.
They went to Birmingham and beat VHSC 1-0 and tied BUSA 1-1 who had to "borrow" three players from their ECNL team (though they had a full bench). I guess the club was deperate for a win.
All in all the new team is progressing and seems to be stronger than last years.

On another note, that UFA-Norcross 03 SCCL girls team is nasty good! Every one of their players is technicaally sound and fast. I'd be interested in seeing them play the area ECNL teams just to see how they stack up. I believe they are something like 53-1 their last 54 games.

They played well against ECNL teams at Jeff Cup last year. Very good team. I know 2 players from that team as they are the daughters of a friend. Very good players. The better of the two had already received some interest from D 1 coaches before the rule change. She is very good.

Some of our 05 girls got the chance to watch one of their games this weekend. They were impressive.

UFA Norcross keeps getting healthier and better. The 05 girls' SCCL team were up 2-1 against the Concorde SCCL-1 team until 2 minutes left when they tied it. UFA Norcross currently sits 4th after 6 games, but still aren't healthy. The three teams ahead of UFA-N, we tied all three of them so this team CAN beat all of them if we play well.
The kid with the strained MCL played her fiorst game back, The two concussions played their 3rd game, and the other knee injury played her first game back.
With three weeks off, this team will be healthy and has a good shot at going from worst to first.
Look out.

The UFA Norcross 05 girls are 4 wins-2 losses-3 draws after today, sitting in 3rd place. This group is now a very respectable soccer team. As U14's, they went 0-1-13 with 1 goal scored all year. With the infusion of depth from other clubs, if they stay together and 1-2 quality players are added next year, they should continue to get better.
Proud to have brought my daughter here.

Congratulations on the improvement. Believe me when I say others are noticing too. The players may begin to get recruited to a higher team or league. Who knows...
