Is there any truth that Concorde will only have 1 girls ECNL team next year for each age bracket? If so, is it because ECNL is taking away one spot away from Concorde, SSA (Concorde Premiere) is getting their own ECNL team, or is this just a fabricated story? Each year it seems there's always something changing from one club to the next.

I would imagine this is why they pushed so hard to improve their Premier teams this year to try and petition to keep them.

Was the all-in 2-team deal always considered a temporary measure? Or was it contingent on performance?
Is the currently Premier teams for 07-06-05 still run by SSA like 06-05 they were last year? Or did they hold a joint ECNL open tryouts and put their best 18 on platinum and next 18 on permier?

I'm pretty certain Concorde Premier ECNL 05, 06, 07 are SSA teams, and 04, 03, 01 Composite are Concorde teams. I have not heard anything about Concorde losing an ECNL spot or SSA gaining one.

Then split them up Platinum/Premier. I beleive one girl went from Premier to Platinum but sounded like intent was to have strongest at Platinum and next at Premier. Perhaps some girls wanted to stay Premier based on location, coach or friends? They have some really strong players on that Premier team.

I'm not sure if it was temporary or not. I believe CF requested 2 ECNL teams since they gave up DA, and at least in the younger brackets they 'loaned' the second team out to SSA. (I could have these facts wrong, but this is what I understand to be true). This year they had 2 different tryouts and locations for Platinum and Premier for the U13 bracket, not open tryouts. It wasn't that the top 18 players went to Platinum, and Premier got the second tier players - I think logistics played a part in where players chose to try out. With that said the teams should be 'equal'. In the older age groups the Platinum teams have been ranked at the top, while the Premier teams have been lower in the rankings. It'll be interesting to see what happens this year.

Right. It's kinda silly to me that a club the size of SSA doesn't have an "elite" league team. After all, they're a bona-fide "Players First" club.

I still can't figure out what, if any, advantages there are to the Concorde/SSA alliance. SSA got an ECNL spot for its girls. What did Concorde get? What alliance is actually occurring?

I'm pretty certain Concorde Premier ECNL 05, 06, 07 are SSA teams, and 04, 03, 01 Composite are Concorde teams. I have not heard anything about Concorde losing an ECNL spot or SSA gaining one. Concorde’s 01/02 Composite team is truly composite. I asked the coach after we played them and he said players last year were at TH and CF ECNL, SSA NPL and CF and SSA SCCL teams. Also interestingly, there is no Platinum team only Premier.

So the 02/01 age group was not included in the 2 teams per age group. Concorde and SSA both posted during tryouts this past May that the tryouts would be combined (at least on paper) for all the age groups with 2 teams (07, 06, 05, 04, 03). Behind the scenes it appears that one coach from SSA (most premier) and one coach from Concorde (mostly platinum) was assigned to each age group. For the most part, there are exceptions, the top 18 made the Platinum, the next 17 or 18 made premiere. There are exceptions because some children may not want to change teams. Or some coaches may not want to open the team to new players. It appears that maybe there wasnt a one size fits all approach given for each age group. Either way both teams have only played a handful of games and people are already worried about next year! I think the parents that are there are pretty happy... So let them be. There is plenty of time to discuss 2020 - 21 next April, and May if and when new announcements are made.

There is plenty of time to discuss 2020 - 21 next April, and May if and when new announcements are made. This is absolutely not true. 05 and 07 tryouts were held in completely separate locations at the same time. Players chose which location/team they wanted to try out for. It was not at all top 18 on Platinum and next 18 on Premier. 06 was a combined tryout, however, a few players that Platinum was interested in voluntarily chose to play on Premier given their location preference. I think the directors and coaches seem to discount the fact that families really may not want to drive further for the same level team. 05, 06, and 07 Premier are all based out of SSA and run by SSA coaches. 04, 03, 02/01, and 02/01 Composite Platinum AND Premier are all run out of Concorde and are run by Concorde coaches. There are both Platinum and Premier teams in the 02/01 age group. The only one that does not have both is 02/01 Composite. So there are actually 3 ECNL teams 02/01 could be considered for. But I do agree with you that families on both Platinum and Premier seem happy where they are so let them be. I'm sure there will be 10 other rumors of mergers, alliances, clubs losing leagues, and new leagues forming before tryout season so no sense worrying about it now.

Sigh (olive branch) we are both right. Take a closer look at the tryout page as it appears the tryouts had a little bit of both approaches. This is why I said there was NOT a one size fits all approach given to all age groups. www.ssaelite.com/Default.aspx?tabid=507645 . // www.concordefire.com/tryouts
