Is girls DA looking to expand in Georgia? Heard from what I would call a very connected source at that club. Would this be next year or possibly just their hopes of being granted DA as they apply?

Just a guess, but I would bet that your source was referring to the GA Alliance FC group (Inter, Impact, Rush). I think they are going to put in an application each and every year for both boys and girls DA. Whether they get it or not...
And I do know they had combined tryouts during the season for GA Alliance "teams". These teams are supposed to participate in Jeff Cup, Disney, etc.

Heard from a very high up person in the alliance and they are no longer looking at DA as an option. With its uncertainty they are looking at other options to compete with the SCCL snowball.

Why would they? Between 2 of those clubs and a few others they have NL basically locked up in Georgia.
Or is it a case of wanting more control?
Of course, there is nothing stopping IAFC, Rush, Impact, Ambush, Columbus, MOBA, AFC, Roswell and a couple other clubs from forming their own closed league and asking US Club to sanction it. Why play 2nd division SCCL at the big 6 when you could play first division in such a league? Not a bad idea.

They only have 1 girls select team. Roswell, Inter, Ambush, AFC, Rush/Chiefs, and Columbus can easily support their own league.

I would be interested to find out what other options their currently are to compete with the "SCCL snowball" For the life of me, I can't think of any
And if all of those other clubs (IAFC, Rush, Impact, Ambush, Columbus, MOBA, AFC, Roswell) started their own US Club league, then GA Soccer really would go the way of the Dodo.

They might as well. I suspect the issue will be having the depth to field at least 1 team per age group per gender. Inter, Roswell, and AFC have the size and depth. Impact, Ambush and Columbus are close. Not so sure how many of these clubs will want to include a trip down to Columbus but that's neither here nor there. MOBA can't do it. Not even close. Then the next problem to deal with will be the depth of quality. So some of the clubs can manage 1 team per age group per gender but cannot manage the same level of quality of team per age group as the others. A sticky wicket.

If this is all true and ends up happening, then do they petition USYS to allow them to continue feeding their teams into Piedmont Conference? Because it's the GA Soccer affiliation that allows that to occur. But if all of your teams are playing US Club, then I don't see how you can continue to promote to Piedmont

They leave their NL level teams in USYS. Put their 2nd team in their new US Club league.

Alliance or as an Individual club, Inter Atlanta was not breaking records and shellacking all opponents to warrant a GDA program. I would think a club looking to launch a USL/WPSL is more likely to get one before they do. Just my opinion...

The very connected sources at both Inter Atlanta and Impact are snake oil salesmen. Always have been. There is next to no chance that girls DA expands to that alliance. Neither club, nor the combination of clubs are competitive enough on the field. Not even close. Tophat or UFA could put second teams in DA and be more competitive. At some point, this forum needs to put the nonsense these two club “leaders” spout incessantly to bed. sounds like somebody knows these people well...
