So, my daughter went to club practice tonight and instead of her usual coach, we had the coach that will be taking over the team next year. Not a big deal on that though as we already knew ahead of time this would be the case. Another change is the training session wasn't just our team. There were players there from lower teams, as well as from outside the club. From what my daughter told me, there were 25 or 26 players in attendance and all they did was scrimmage 11v11. As for the girls knowing where they stand going into next year, I found one comment from tonight very interesting. The coach flat out told all the players, "nobody here is safe". My guess is nobody there will have a solid idea of where they will be offered for next year until after the last night of tryouts. The only ones who aren’t “safe” are the ones who the coach hasn’t already offered or already confirmed that they have a spot for next year. I have also seen many players joining practice for other teams and clubs and it will be this way through tryouts. As someone mentioned before, there are very few spots left by the time tryouts come around. I would venture to say if your child was good enough and went to the last day of tryouts at another club after seeing what went down at other clubs they would be made an offer even if the club already had players in those positions

We have all heard of verbal offers being made and then pulled. So how do you know when to trust that you really have a spot on a team? Do you ask the coach to send something in writing to verify the offer?

Seriously

Seriously No, but you also don’t want your kid to be stuck not on a team. Is there any way to get confirmation of the verbal offer?

I would expect a big turnout for this, especially with NASA’s strong results in the Unite Cup.

I guess it depends if some top UFA, CF or SSA players or former Atl players show up.

I cannot believe we have 5 pages of posts and still the majority of coaches have not been released. No academy age teams have been released (though I have heard a number of rumors about a lot of them). No select coaches at most clubs. Some ECNL/ECRL released but not all clubs. No GA/DPL at Tophat released and I don't think I have seen SSA or AFC either. Hmm. Crazy. 2 weeks until academy and U13/U14 tryouts and 3 weeks until high school age kids try out. So typical

Well I am going somewhere for a coach for the little one. I know who a few coaches are going to be via connections (and them telling me themselves in some cases) but there are still clubs that I am interested in hearing. They won't get my money if they don't have the right coach.
