“ FOSTER THE BEST PLAYING ENVIRONMENT” is one of the five pillars that US Soccer has identified in their new strategic plan.
If they get this one right it will greatly influence the other 4 pillars for sure!
Their starting point (US Soccer) must be to really look at the current system and at the people and organizations who see the current system as being ok!
Many of the member associations have not only allowed us to get to this point, but are happy with the current system. They often defend the current league systems because they pay the inflated salaries and bills.
US Soccer needs to clearly define what they want from their member associations at every level of the game. They need people who work directly for US Soccer, to get out on the road and monitor what is going on!
They need to cut out the competition between member associations and create specialist at each level and area of the game.
Grassroots
Player development
Coaching Education
Merit driven leagues
In state leagues
Festivals that are designed for players
Basically US Soccer needs to define their levels and then assign people to develop them and maintain them!
This is the biggest challenge for US Soccer……. but if you look closely at the current system and focused purely on “player care” it is glaringly obvious that this system is and will continue to fail therefore change is needed.
If US Soccer held every club accountable for the information on their websites under this current system they would see more holes than in Swiss 🧀
A new system is needed and some new people will be required to turn things around. Anyone who has been in influential positions (in the member associations that deal with youth soccer) has failed to recognize or influence change and must not be recycled again!
New ways of doing things must be trialed and tested and then rolled out systematically across the country, with core foundations, oversight and further education to support the new system included!
My fingers are crossed 🤞 for a bright future for soccer in America 🇺🇸 at all levels of the game!
Thoughts?”
