Curious as to everyone's thoughts on the new rule allowing a limited use of NIL for Georgia High Schools?

Curious as to everyone's thoughts on the new rule allowing a limited use of NIL for Georgia High Schools? Too soon to tell. I could see it helping…and I can also see the potential for exploitation…especially to those who might need money the most.

Recruiting will be much more open. Boosters paying players families to move to areas. It’s already being done but not it will be out in the open.

Tell me how many high school players (that you don't already know) you would recognize walking down the street. Their name, image and likeness is worthless. This is a blatant attempt to allow schools through their boosters to pay for kids to attend their schools.
The real question is why would a booster pay a high school kid for their name, image and likeness?

The real question is why would a booster pay a high school kid for their name, image and likeness? We all know this has nothing to do with Name Image and Likeness same as in college. College is now pro sports high school will be pro sports also.

With a college, there are typically hundreds of thousands of fans so being connected to the success of the college has a certain financial appeal to the booster. The largest high school in Georgia is around 4,000 kids. If every kid and parent of the kid attending the school were influenced by the NIL or the booster making the team good, still only talking about 12,000 people. Throw in some alumni who might care, still south of 25,000 people.

You are asking the wrong person-it doesn’t matter to me but I know that recruiting great players means a lot the the folks around here. I saw a figure and it was very surprising the amount of money that gets passed around.

This is a blatant attempt to allow schools through their boosters to pay for kids to attend their schools. The real question is why would a booster pay a high school kid for their name, image and likeness? I think when it comes to HS sports, it's all local. So the local Auto Dealer, Insurance Agent in small town/city USA would benefit from the NIL of the star QB or local soccer player who for example may be going to UGA to ply her sport. The true value is not what we think it is, but what those in the players community deem that value is to them and their businesses. An actual example is that of a young lady who had a following on SM and was approached to help sell a sports drink in her community within Gwinnett. All she had to do was post and tag the sports drink with a code. She gets a percentage of sales and the company increases it's sales. There is also the story of the state POTY who was able to capitalize. So there are instances where the NIL is a mutual benefit for both parties if done right.
