Still Don't understand why Miami doesn't have a men's soccer team.....quick answer is title 9 but unlike most of the SEC teams, Miami already has the fields allocated for the women's soccer team, to equal it out Miami could easily be a hotbed for women's softball and wouldn't be much of a stretch alumni baseball players helping with the extra cost......With Beckham and Messi at Miami United, it could be a big win

It has also led to other men's sports being dropped.

Title IX is the reason. Also soccer is NOT a revenue generating sport. So basically they would have to add another womens program. Thus they would have to add 2 additional teams for the athletic department to carry. Two additional teams of scholarshiped players, trainers, coaches, uniforms, etc, etc... Also with Miami being the ACC they might be losing money every year as an athletic department...

I still don't get why Georgia Tech doesn't have a womens soccer program either. The ACC has strong history of being one of the best in soccer, and with all the talent in the Metro Atl area, it would seem a nice fit.

Both have strong club teams. The men's just qualified for nationals in Texas next week. I know a good number on the team were legit college recruits including D1 level but chose their education over soccer. In the long run, that probably makes good economic sense as the engineers and computer science majors will make a lot more than home grown signees.
