Every detail sounds worse than the last. Such a sad story.

Very sad and unfortunate. It seemed like it was going to be a good thing.

If only that would happen to some of the other clubs in town...

If only that would happen to some of the other clubs in town... I get what you’re saying. Maybe just not the same way that’s so disruptive to players. EADL teams were in the SSA tourney so someone is keeping things going.

EADL teams were in the SSA tourney so someone is keeping things going. As I understand from talking to coaches still there EAFC and RYSA have unmerged themselves from the dutch lions group of clubs are going to try to keep going/reestablish both older clubs. Planning on keeping their USL2 and USLA M and F teams this summer. Another interesting wrinkle now. There is a *brand new* professional NISA team based in conyers called the Georgia Lions that is co-owned by the same Dutch guy, but the more public owner is a different woman from India. All the PR is about first female Indian owned pro soccer team in the US and ironically/sadly talks about the success of his aquisition of EADL. They allegedly start their first professional season this month. Maybe down the road we get a MK Dons AFC Wimbledon type rivalry between the clubs? www.nisaofficial.com/news/2024/01/11/georgia-lions-fc-joins-nisa-for-2024-season(NISA is a 3rd tier pro league of 9 teams spread accross nation, similar level to USL1)

NISA struggles to pay their referees, so sounds like its a good fit.

Sounds like the word is out that American youth soccer is an easy fleece. There is no reason to try and build up RYSA. Its too remote. Good luck to whomever wants to try and fleece them next, a Nigerian prince perhaps?

Good luck to whomever wants to try and fleece them next, a Nigerian prince perhaps? Sad. It was once a pretty good youth club with a long history. They had some very good coaches and did really great stuff back in the day. Left their mark on very good players that came through their local youth teams and super y … Just sad 😞

Looks like RYSA is being taken over by GSA and will be known as GSA East. Good for all.

Having had a kid at RYSA for several years, I'm of the opinion that GSA coming in is the best thing that could possibly have happened. RYSA has the potential to be a great club again. But it's not been managed well over the past 5 or 7 years and has gone downhill dramatically. Every time a really good player comes through, they move on to a "better" club.
When the dutch group came in, they converted all the SCCL teams to E64 teams which caused a bunch of kids to leave because they didn't want that level of commitment (increased practice days and regional travel). This whole thing has been a disaster. I wish a group like GSA had come in 5 years ago. We would likely still be there because it's so convenient.
I hope this change ends up being as good for the club as I think it's going to be. My kid's former team had a very rough season in E64 this year. I hope, for their sakes, that this change will make things better there.

Anyone not in conyers/covington. I both laugh at and deeply envy Atlanta area parents who talk about travel and club distance. Truly have no idea how much easier everything is living in that area.

Anyone not in conyers/covington. Our kid started at RYSA through u12. After that we made the trek 3 times a week for practices and weekend games playing in ECNL SE. Guess where? GSA. Kid started and played on an ECNL National finalist team. Would not have changed a thing.

Anyone not in conyers/covington. ...and madison and loganville and monroe and about 15 other cities that are 45 minutes or more from an Atlanta area club and have significant numbers of kids that love soccer. It's not just kids in Alpharetta that play club level soccer.

It's not just kids in Alpharetta that play club level soccer. They asked a question I answered. Alpharetta is inconvenient to those not in the Alpharetta area. Cobb county is inconvenience to those not in Cobb county. Gwinnett County is inconvenient to people Gwinnett county. Just because it’s inconvenient doesn’t mean it’s not the right place for you.

The question was "too remote" and the original comment was dismissive "There's no reason to try and build up RYSA. It's too remote" as if since it's not close to that person, it's not worth building back up. My point was that it's not too remote for those of us outside the city.

So many people are so spoiled not realizing how easy it is for them to change clubs because there are so many nearby. So many are also silly to think it isn’t the right thing to do to move 15 minutes down the road for a better option. So many are silly to think people shouldn’t try to make ALL clubs the best they can be. Sometimes it won’t work out but they should try regardless. It is not too remote for those that live in the area. Of course they would love for it to be a quality option

Yeah, I live inside the perimeter and every big club is "remote" to me. LOL. Because with traffic it takes an hour to get there? My older child drove 25 minutes to first club, 30 minutes to second, 1.5 hours to third and 40 minutes for senior year.

Some people like that kind of misery, some don’t… It's definitely not a question of like, just a fact of life. Most of the big clubs are in the northern suburbs, which are 25 miles or more from me in most directions and anywhere from 30 to 75 minutes each way depending on traffic. It is what it is.
