Hopefully this article will now answer everyone's questions as to why GA United gave up the U16 & U18's
As a result, Atlanta United’s proposal has been in place since the beginning of the academy season. Atlanta United has been in technical control of Georgia United’s U16 and U18 teams, both of which are on track to make the playoffs this June. Georgia United may still be the name on the crest, but every one of its players are banking minutes toward Homegrown status according to Annan. If the math works out, Atlanta United could conceivably pull off a major coup and sign the 16-year-old Carleton to a Homegrown deal before playing its first official match.

Apparently the boys who made the next round of tryouts for Atlanta United have been informed. We were informed via email and a UPS package stating "You've Been Chosen" Image: postimg.org/image/418mjvx0x/, wonder what Atlanta United will do if you actually make the team, home visit? Video:

So cool, but a young kid probably thinks that he made the team given the swag box and delivery to the door. When in reality, I understand that it's just a notification that they're through to the next phase? OK. Still really cool. Good luck to all the boys.

This is not for the younger kids that went to the ID Camp, this is for the older boys that have been invited to the tryouts (01 and up). I think its just a ATLUnited drawstring bag and a card, I wouldn't call it a swag box lol

Interesting, any correlation among the 4, like are they RPL premier or ODP, etc.?

Interesting, any correlation among the 4, like are they RPL premier or ODP, etc.? One is in ODP but not regional pool and plays RPL 1st Division. 2 of them play RPL 1st Division, the other plays RPL Premier and National League. Those are just the 4 that I heard about at practice.

Wonder if they'll contact boys from other clubs using the same criteria? Hope so.

So for those who do not make it to Atlanta United, the only other U12/13/14 option is Ga United and CF, when do they have their tryouts?

I would guess that Ga United will do them the week of memorial Day. They had said they would do them after AtlUnited and before club tryouts. Not familiar with CF tryouts.

I know we've covered, but just have to ask rhetorically and rant: What in the world is with all the clubs' DA teams at the 12 age level (and likely more age groups in the future)? Why the need for another league?! If Atlanta United needs clubs to nominate their best players for their DA program, why can't we all still play in the same league together and clubs can nominate their top players if all parties agree like they did with GA United?! What's the problem? Are there not enough Divisions?! Too funny.

I don't agree with all the U12 DA teams either, I don't see the need? i guess the only difference is that they will have an actual schedule they have to follow and play all games unlike regular academy. The travel will also be local so thats a plus. I also don't think that those clubs will get more age groups in the future.

I concur, I think the one true benefit at the U12 level is the reduction in travel distance. I wonder how far the U13s will have to travel for games since there are only 3 clubs locally?

I will ask them the next time i see them.

A friend of mine with a rising U15 boy received an invite, after attending the ID session - wish I had confidence in the likelihood of an actual ID session for the older kids.

By "rising U15 boy" do you mean pre- or post-mandate--i.e., what birth year? It gets really confusing since DA isn't adopting age mandate until 2017. I know invites went out for DA U16 (2000/2001) and U18 (1998/1999) but have not heard anything about the U15-only (2001) team.

All the invites have gone out is what i heard, and the kids that were not invited back received an email.
