It looks like US Soccer has found a solution to a problem which if you watch their own video is pretty much a coaching problem. If the coach could look past the biggest most physical player and was really a soccer coach with a soccer brain he/she would see the real better player, even if that player did seem to get manhandled off the ball some.
It is largely a coaching problem but it is also a culture problem. How many of us (not the actual people here, but youth soccer parents) have looked to switch teams/clubs because ours just wasn't winning. The truth is, using early puberty players for a few years helps win games. It's like playing college players against high school players. Given the same skill level, the college players would win.
Not only that, the years when early puberty makes the most difference are the super golden years of youth soccer. They are the years where almost all of the upheaval of players/teams/clubs happen. So the pressure is on the coaches and clubs to do whatever they can to win.
Sure, we could educate our coaches and things could be much better than they are, but let's be realistic -- moving the soccer culture in this country, the "we have to win" culture, is going to take a very long time. That is doubly true when we're paying so incredibly much just to have our kids play.

What do you do when a players been biobanded because of late puberty then grows 6 inches in 3 months? Do you continue to bioband weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly? What club can afford this? Yes $ is always a factor. Who pays? Does the club, the parents... Who in Georgia is qualified to accurately band players?
The EPL team mentioned has the resources including the $. I don't see clubs in Georgia having the resources IMO.

No doubt, we have had many threads about this issue and when Bunce was hired etc.
this was an interesting quote we posted in another thread -- The issue JB might not realize is this has to be applied at the local level, and not at national camp, then its too late.
ussoccer.com: At the end of the day, it improves the ability to make sure that players are judged appropriately and that they don’t fall through the cracks. JB: 100 percent. If anyone is judging a player at under-17 or under-18 purely based on their ability to score goals or their ability to dominate in a training session, there is a massive amount of evidence now that shows that you could be misidentifying them. The way we coin the phrase here is that you start seeing fool’s gold and missing the diamond in the rough. You can’t start backing the player that isn’t actually your best option only because he’s just doing well in that age group. You want to be identifying the longer-term strategy, seeing what they could offer in their 20’s. These kinds of strategies hopefully ensured that every club within the system, not only in Southampton but within England, has the ability to identify these players and make sure that their strategies are in place to make sure that they don’t get lost in the system.
