I agree 100% that NTH will remain equally successful should they choose ECNL or GDA. Tophat has a fantastic reputation for compiling and developing talent. The only reason anyone is assuming they will drop ECNL is because that's what some have been saying they're hearing. I have no skin in it and have no sources at Tophat, and despite how it may seem I don't relish in their loss of on or the other, just objective about the reasoning. I enjoy a bit of the chaos in tryout time. This is our first year where we will not be changing clubs. I completely disagree with this statement. Players will not stay at tophat simply because of tophat name. If tophat only has 1 ecnl team only the best 16-18 players will be on that team. The next 8-12 girls at tophat could likely find another ecnl club to join. If you want to play college you need the ecnl or DA credentials and those parents know it. Tophat SCCL will not put the same players in college compared to a Atlanta Fire ecnl, gsa ecnl, or Concorde Fire ecnl Soccermax I have to disagree with you in regards to the college path. I know of some girls that got scholarships out of NPL, girls who got offers out SCCL and I'm pretty sure Concorde and Tophat got some girls into college out of Athena A. I do agree the path is easier out of DA and ECNL but kids do get offers from the other leagues. Please stop scaring the parents on the forum by thinking the only way your kid play college ball is by those 2 divisions. You do not NEED to be in those leagues. Also to make you aware I have seen girls get offers from lower level teams at much smaller clubs. I am sure everyone on this site wishes they were in your shoes with having such a quality player and the funds to support but many people don't have that privilege. (Me being one of those people).

You're right, it does scare parents. It really depends on defining what you mean by "college scholarships". Are you talking D1 major conference schools? Then yes, DA/ECNL is a much more effective path (with exceptions to other leagues). For smaller D1's, and D2, etc. you can still get scholarships while playing in the other leagues. I know of a mid/small club that had approx 14 out of 17 players get scholarships ( none to a power five conference) just last year. It should truly depend on what the kid is looking for out of school... to play at the hardest level in college, or to find a fit that will help pay your way through college and get a degree. I'm personally in the latter decision.

I wasn't saying they will retain all their players. There will be plenty of defections to other clubs for 2nd tier players (assuming they lose a team). I would expect a coach or 2 also (no inside info). Killing it in SCCL won't be enough of a draw...
But the club as a whole will continue to be very successful.

There are all kinds of D1 schools in Ga. And the South not just SEC. If you like big strong fast USWNT circa 96 then SEC is for you from what I have seen. Lots of other leagues lots of other styles of play from league to league.
What Conxorde does with two ECNL girls teams is more interesting than NTH dropping girls ECNL. We've known for months it was happening. Coaches threatening teams with that as motivation during the season... kind of pissed me off.
