Why spill the beans ? The only reason I report things I know is because I believe all soccer clubs put money before the kids . This is my way of at least giving parents a heads up so they are not blind sided . If I posted specifically what I know , my source will know that it specifically came from me.
So in lieu of that I will say this: right now certain families are hearing the news they didn’t believe even though I started warning everyone late November .
And tomorrow this forum will know.

Well considering that the subject is DA and we have all been waiting on whether Concorde is having to choose and you are AFU and pro-ECNL (not that there is anything wrong with that)...let me guess...Concorde is giving up DA??? And if the post doesn't actually give the information it does NOT give anyone the heads up.

The landscape is changing as I text this . When the news hits , any moment now , we can discuss it. DA/ECNL news concerning clubs dropping /changing /adding ............... Thank you very much for posting this important message. I too believe that DA and ECNL need to change in Georgia. We have a very successful ODP program for high level boy and girl players to train and compete against other top players in the country and internationally. I look forward to your next post and hope we can all work together with the upcoming changes to youth soccer in this state. ODP allows players to stay with their current clubs AND play high school soccer while getting additional training in the state and region.

1. I agree with you that ODP is the true spirit of what high level soccer extra training should be.
2. Oraclesfriend: I'm not pro ECNL. My kid is only a swing player between that and Athena A. I hate the stupid idea of 12 year old kids flying to Houston or traveling to Orlando to end up playing a dang club that is 30 minutes down the road.
3. I just think DA is poorly run. They treat 13 year old's like they are world cup players and take away allowing the kid to be a kid.
4. I'm just stating what I know with as much detail as I can without getting myself in trouble. I thought one of the points of this forum was to inform others of the stuff that normally only parents would find out at the last minute?
If everyone prefers, I'll retire from this and not provide any thing that I know. I'm no one special, I just happen to be someone (just by chance) who is close friends with 3 people who are either the DOC, President or Board of Directors at their club. So I may not have 1,000 posts here, but I do have a good view of what is going on in Ga Soccer.
But I can always stop.

I just think this particular thread is not actually information yet. It is a teaser but without enough detail to even be that. We all want to know what is happening so we can make well-informed decisions for our kids. You are lucky to be so much in the know. I just think that what you actually said in this thread is...".there will be an interesting announcement in a few days."

It sounds like in the past you have given good information. Don't stop on my account. You have had good input on things. I just expect the Concorde announcement to affect a lot of people I know and SCCL will affect my older kid as well. Keep doing what you have been doing, but like Soccerhouse I want you to spill the beans.

I won't stop. I love this site....even though it gets heated and passionate, it's fun and in the midst of all the rumor, lies a little truth. Between all of us, I think we get some decent peeks into what is to come.... It beats the parents on the sidelines who couldn't even tell you what State Cup is:)

Its fun and competitive at the younger ages, but as they get older kids start dropping out. Also unfortunately some clubs use it as a recruiting tool.... 2. I 100% agree 12 years have no need to be traveling like that 3. How do you know this information? Your kid doesnt play DA. For every parent that complains about it I can find you two that don't have a problem with it. 4. You're saying a lot without actually saying anything. Im no one special either, and I also happen to be good friends with some DOCs..i just choose not to create panic. And you may not have 1000 posts yet, but I have a feeling you will get there soon. And no, I'm not going to beg you to keep posting. There is no need, you're having way too much fun stirring the pot to go anywhere.

You do know that for every club that left, another one joined right? Also some have gone "All In DA". Only difference is thar US Soccer doesn't do a press release every time. There are enough players in the country to support both leagues. This little war is not stopping anytime soon unless US Soccer does something drastic like requiring all National Pool players to play GDA.

This little war is not stopping anytime soon unless US Soccer does something drastic like requiring all National Pool players to play GDA. Yes, I'm kind of aware. However, I think the quality of clubs leaving GDA is demonstrably higher than those coming in, and I'm guessing there are a few more announcements that will swing the balance further. GDA is strong in Texas and SoCal... ECNL winning in NW, MW, and NE... which makes watching for changes in the landscape in the SE interesting to an outsider like me. I think this will all sort itself out regionally, but I kind of disagree that there are enough players to support two top leagues. There are, however, enough parents writing checks to support two leagues, it comes with other costs. How fired up do you think NTH and CF are with their combined +325 GDA goal differential at U15, U17, and U19 so far. NTH and CF can dictate terms in ECNL, and make more money in the process. I don't have inside info, just a hunch that one or both will be leaving GDA this year... not sure why they would wait until next year.

Ok, I can now speak freely. Allow me to make this very clear. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, honest or not honest, I'm just stating the facts so that people can make their decisions for their kids:
1. Contrary to what soccermom says, AFU will be allowed to keep ECNL while staying in the Pioneer Conference AND THAT ONE YEAR WAIVER WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY RENEWED Each year. It doesn't matter what rules soccermom reads to you.
Now, you are welcome to come back on here and tell me that is hypocritical but I'm just telling what I know. A couple of the Big 5 clubs have had some certain advantages over the years but now it is only evening out.
All you have to do is look at the numbers at the AFU ECNL ID camp tonight to know that the tide is turning......
AND I SAID THIS IN DECEMBER but some on this site only listen to what 2-3 "experts' tell them. If it comes from a newer member, it must not be true.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH, and one more nugget: either later tonight or tomorrow before noon I will post something else on here that will be verifiable.

To be honest, UFA has been the club the most shut out in the past. UFA tried for YEARS to get ECNL only to be blocked by the other 4 clubs.
I will agree with you that there are some clubs with more power than others. On the girls side Tophat is number 1 and Concorde 1.5. I won't even give Concorde a 2 because it is that close! That is the story the last few years anyway. I can't speak to before that. One reason. I give Concorde the 1.5 instead of the number 1 ranking is their depth is not quite as good as Tophat's. But both clubs are the best in the area for girls.
I know there are A LOT of kids at the ECNL ID camp. We know a ton of people that are there, but don't let that make you think they will all go there if given the option. Many of those girle that are there are also planning to go to Concorde, Tophat and UFA for tryouts.

I agree with you oraclesfriend: many of those kids will not come to AFU, and I also want you to know that I really like the way UFA runs things. I always thought UFA/AFU would make a good merger:)
Gil and Iggy are awesome coaches. those are the only ones I'm real familiar with.

It’s too bad they wouldn’t ever let UFA in ecnl in the past. Would have drastically changed the landscape along with tophat getting in sooner. If I’m not mistaken it was Brian Moore from Concorde that made sure it didn’t happen.
