Seems like an odd time to have their 'first gala'? How come UFA hasn't had a gala up to this point, strange? Also, I know a few parents at Norcross who feel like second class citizens to the Fowler clan and don't feel like they are one club anyway that's why you usually see a huge exodus of girls from Norcross at the end of academy. Could also be because of the distance. If you live 20 - 30 minutes away from Norcross and then chose to go another 30+ minutes to get to Fowler, that makes it more prohibitive to migrate to Fowler for DA/NPL/etc. I know it is a trip I don't look forward to and will be happy to be done with this May/June...FG

FG cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am done with youth soccer and the travel. This last year was a blessing because my kid was driving herself to practice. But we were doping the Fowler drive 3 times a week from Duluth depending on the time of practice could be 20 minutes or almost 45 minutes. Good luck to all.

Does anyone have any insight into what is the exciting new news that is coming to the UFA family that is going to be announced at the gala on 5/11/19? My guess.... Either how much money was raised by the Gala OR The UFA Milton / GA Rush merger is back on...or off....or on hold....but soon. Maybe.

Another (larger) branch to complain about feeling 2nd class to the primary location?

The Gala was unfortunately doomed from the start, when it was scheduled first for May, but then you choose Mother's Day. Big No/No, don't take away momma's day. Tickets were barely moving and many were refusing to sign up. Plus I believe all UFAs SCCL and DA teams would be in Alabama or out of town for that weekend too. I think it would have been better in September to avoid conflicts with pre-season tournaments or maybe during the Winter Break...FG

Why not do it in April? Before all the tournaments, late season fitting the games in crunch, etc.

The intent was good but the idea... not so much. For the average parent it's $100 going just as a couple. Add a couple of children now you are above $200. Not interested in paying $200 more dollars to UFA. After fees and tournaments and general costs, enough of my dollars go to soccer. Cut the cost down to $25 per person, that seems more reasonable.
Also while I can't remember anything about the program (who was speaking, etc.), I assume that just means nothing directly interested me. You want people to attend, get a speaker that they still remember 2 months after reading the email. AU player, National Team player, something. Sell them (the speaker) on the scholarship aspect and maybe they do a favor and don't charge a fee (or at least a reasonable speaking fee).
Hold it in September. By May I'm worn out from soccer.

Don't get me wrong, I 100% understand the intent of the Gala etc. Scholarships and fund raising etc. Makes sense -- But I'm sure many are like "us" -- I already have given the club close to $5000 a year, I think that's enough from my family. Hell throw a multiple kid discount at me for example. Perfect example is we had to change our credit card and I didn't update the system with my new number, in 10 years, I've never been late for payment and always paid 100% on time -- good lord, the threatening emails we got about our childs player card getting pulled etc. Meanwhile, on one of my son's team is a kid whose parents haven't paid a dime to club over 5 years, yet they don't get the threatened for not paying for things. etc. Sorry for hijacking the thread, but you get my point. Even back in the days when we had to pay the coaches directly, they wouldn't even given the coaches $5 when asked for money. I agree 100%. UFA shows its true colors when it comes to money... I left UFA for that very reason once, and I may do it again. (Its tryout time you know...)

This makes me wonder, which clubs DO and which DO NOT have a multiple kid discount? Multiple kid discount? What’s that?? I mean maybe if they’re twins and on the same field but why should two coaches take a pay cut because there’s two kids from the same family in the club. That’s like your employer telling you you’re getting paid for four days instead of five because Friday’s work is the same work but to a related client from Thursday.

The coaches should not take a pay cut. However, there are duplicate fees (outside of coaches pay) rolled into the registration of multiple kids. Some of those duplicate fees could be eliminated which would account for the discount.

Club used to give us a break for extra camps etc, when we were sending all three kids -- just gets too expensive.

Its usually around 10% (at smaller clubs). So off $1600 registration the family would save $160 on the 2nd kid (less if its academy obviously, which is the primary target). The club likely won't be hurting from such a loss.
