There was a good amount of social distancing among parents tonight, spread out, some wore masks others didn't. Same for coaches. But for the most part it did not feel unsafe, and most important of all was great to see kids play the game again. The kids needed this to happen, bad. It will take some games for the rust on touches under pressure and decisions on the field was evident, but was a good start. As people seemed careful and sensible, it felt like the right thing to do.

That is awesome, I know a lot of young boys n girls and parents are happy to see this day finally arrive. Real games that kinda count, not a scrimmage with friends, neighbors or teammates. Let's all make sure we do our best to ensure we remove politics and just do whatever it takes to make sure the kids can enjoy the beautiful game. Have fun, get some sun, watch some good games, stay safe, stay hydrated and cheer loud. And one last note, winning/losing this weekend will not deter junior from "going pro" at least in our collective minds. Good luck everyone at the CF Tourney...

Considering almost no one is wearing masks at our park nor social distancing, I doubt we will be “back on the fields” for very long.

Dropped my daughter off this morning with tent, cooler and chair b/c she'll be reffing the CF tourney all day today. On one field the parents are at a good distance from the sidelines and on another field they are damn near up on it. I just wish there was more of an effort from the organizers to make sure that the parents are at a good distance from the field so the ARs can move up and down the field without having parents right up on the ARs' back.

I thought we played well for our first game, 5 of our 11 who started did not play with us last year, and our first game with a new coach. It's going to be a good team. GSA looked great today. Maybe Roswell will be their toughest out but from what I saw today, they may be the team to beat in SCCL 05 girls

Considering almost no one is wearing masks at our park nor social distancing, I doubt we will be “back on the fields” for very long. We are at Mt Carmel and I'd say I saw about the same percentage wearing masks OUTDOORS at the games as I did at the couple of gas stations, stores and restaurants I went into today (1/3 to 2/3 mask to no mask). And most sidelines had parents pretty well separating themselves all the way down to the endlines. I did notice one team having a meeting at the end of the day with the coach and parents and almost all the parents had on masks and were in a pretty wide circle. Probably didn't have them on the whole game but at least those soccer parents were being respectful of each other (and all of us) at in the moment. But you are right we may not be back on the fields very long if the rest of the population can't do one little thing like wear a mask for public health reasons. C'mon Georgia, do better.

The GA teams I am aware of played scrimmages against other NTH teams (older/younger) not out of town teams. He also could have been referring to academy teams as in U12 and under who also scrimmaged today. The GA teams are going to CESA friendlies as their first outside of Tophat competition and that is next weekend.

Postponed 4th of July fireworks in my area last night. Crowds with Little to NO social distancing. Very few masks. School “starts” in person in a week...what could possibly go wrong?🤷🏻♂️

NTH had friendlies- mostly North teams versus buckhead teams, at least at the academy ages (up through u 12). I believe there were at least a few random older GAL versus DPL games.

Great, so now even this forum is going the political route?
How about we keep things to soccer. The limited number of people on this site That will read your message will not change a thing so why stir the pot?
And everyone there today has just as much chance of catching the Vid playing and watching soccer as they would living their lives. Calm down and enjoy the kids.

I hope the parents and kids who get coronavirus at one of these games express the same sentiment that having the coronavirus just “feels right.” Somehow I don’t think that is going to happen though.😂😂

I have yet to hear of anyone. Even teams that have had to quarantine as a result of one player having it, I have yet to hear about anyone on the team being infected by that person.

That will never happen because no one can scientifically pinpoint where someone got infected, it's about minimizing the potential risks.

Exactly-how many times to you get a virus, start to feel ill and think “what did I eat for lunch?” In very few instances (unless you are in a contained space like a cruise ship) can you tell where you picked it up.

Well with how Covid-19 works there’s no real way to show how someone got it. But I’ve known of AFU and Gsa players getting it in July and it’s assumed they got it from their team.

If one kid test positive on a team and then within a week several other people on the same team test positive, we can relate it back to being as part of that team. See as examples Camp High Harbour, choir practice in Washington, 2 funerals in Albany, FC Dallas, Nashville, Florida Marlins, St. Louis Cardinals. You are a coach at NTH and the teams have been practicing for weeks now. Have there by team wide outbreaks? I have people at several clubs and even teams that had to pull out of the Nike Select Cup due to Covid do not have a group of people that have tested positive. Normally it is one person and the rest have to quarantine for 14 days.

Do kids get carpools after practice, maybe a parent had it? Again I don't think you can definitely say where a person was infected. NTH has mandated all coaches, staff and parents must wear a mask while at the fields. Parents aren't typically allowed at practices anyway (at least at Buckhead) so for games parents are expected to wear masks on the sidelines.

I completely agree with you on that being able to pinpoint where you contracted the virus. However, is it now a new policy that parents can't stay around for practice at Buckhead? Because last season our team practiced out of Buckhead and it was a good amount of parents out there watching on the side between the ditch and parking lot.
