Someone here has to have an opinion on their cameras/software, right? Anyone using it and have an honest review from a parent perspective(other than cost)? Worth the money for high school age kids/teams? Are any coaches using it for training purposes?

Our team used it some last year - a mixed bag experience really.
Had some trouble initially on uploads and technology. Missed a couple of halfs. On the upside, they gave us credits and worked hard with the parent running the process.
The actual product is ok - it does track the ball, but the corners of the field tend to be blind spots... and the camera can lag the action. At times you get a great view of play developing, but you also get a lot of players just behind the ball. The technology is cool, but it just isn't quite there yet...
Our coach didn't really engage with it much - at least not that we saw.

I saw someone using the Veo setup this past weekend. How well does that one work?

All clubs should a have HUDL Account as I love HUDL Videos from high school last season. Very easy to make highlight videos and everyone know HUDL

We use Veo and we really like it.
It does take some getting used to in regard to what you can do with it.
I really like drawing on the screen and sending the clip to the player with comments.

We used Trace last year and Veo so far this year. Veo has MUCH better video quality.
(Assuming Trace did not do a major camera upgrade of course)

We are using Veo this year and so far it seems really good. I have seen our games from the weekend but have not had a chance to mess around with the features. The video quality was better than I was expecting.

Trace sucked. Used it at ECNL playoffs last year and apparently the fastest person on our team is the goalie. None of the statistics were correct. My son scored a goal after a 40 yard sprint to get to the ball and beat 2 people. The map said he was by our goalie. Video quality was awful. They said they were working on algorithms when I voiced my displeasure. They wanted a solid review. I told them I would not recommend.

I wasn't involved with the purchase, but I think the answer is yes. As for exporting, it is easy to download locally to your PC/laptop, and they are saved as MP4 files. Our tournament games were 30 minute halves, and each video was approximately 70 minutes long. The size of each was approximately 4GB once downloaded to my laptop.

Went with the shorter model due to ease of storage and transport. Even the 12 foot model is a little large and heavy.

So not a sales pitch but I really like the system. In particular I like being to send highlights and coaching points to players. The draw in the screen function is really good for this. I’m having my players send me three highlights they like and three they don’t for improvement to get them used to analyzing their own games. They like being able to download their highlights The 12 foot Tripod has been fine The ability to pan out and see the whole field or what my defense is doing while we’re on the attack and vice versa, and not rely on human error is another advantage I like

We heard about the Veo from the girls academy info on the web. It looks like an awesome thing. We currently have 2 parents that normally film with regular video cameras but this seems to be much easier and provides that view of people making off the ball runs and positioning defensively that you cannot see when focusing on the action.

You’re 100% correct about the off camera view as it is filming the entire field all the time. When it’s processed the camera “follows the ball” like TV but you can pan out and look “off camera”. I’m the coach so I bought the camera but the parents paid 88.00 a piece which covers everything else for the year. I made each of them “editors” in the system so they could play with the highlights. There are different packages but we did the team deal. I did A LOT of research before settling on this one.

Hey everyone, I am one of the cofounders of Trace. I am not here to sell anyone and will admit the product was a bit early to market in 2019. The technology is improving rapidly and is night and day in comparison to even this past Spring.
Filming a soccer game well is hard to do, however not only is filming a challenge, there are larger ones. While Trace is solving the filming pain point we are also trying to solve others.
Raw game film, averages less than 7 views per game. At Trace we are focused on engagement and consumption of video moments. Our software auto edits each player’s interactions on the ball into short-form digestible moments. We are improving at this the best we can and doing-so in an all-in-one solution. Auto filming, auto-editing, recruiting platform, and performance data. We see upwards of 2000 views and 20 shares in a single game. While the video quality isn’t crystal clear (yet) our engagement statistics are very exciting. Because of our fast turnaround and accessibility > 80% of our views are on a mobile device. On an iPhone Trace looks crystal clear.
If anyone has any questions on how teams are utilizing our video, performance, and recruiting technology or about Trace in general, I’d be happy to answer.

Appreciate the update. We have moved on to VEO. The attributes and capabilities of Trace were frankly way over sold from a marketing perspective. Introducing a product to the market before it was ready is not very cool.

Trace apparently did some retooling/rewriting during the COVID break and is supposed to be better. We will see.

Trace apparently did some retooling/rewriting during the COVID break and is supposed to be better. We will see. I watched a game filmed with TraceUp. The film editing & emailing was automated and the film had good clarity, even if distant at times. I haven't seen Veo or InStat (or what TraceUp used to be) to make a comparison but the ease with which a parent gets clips of their child is a big selling point.

As stated above, we used Trace last year and Veo so far this year. In addition to much better video quality Veo allows me to control the camera and look off the action (pan/tilt/and zoom off action). Has the new Trace implemented this feature?
Veo easily does clips too.

How many people have access to edit/create clips? Do Veo fees include storage and software/hardware updates? Looking online I see Veo appears less expensive. Just making sure there aren't hidden costs.

How many people have access to edit/create clips? (There is not a limit) Do Veo fees include storage and software/hardware updates? (Yes, the yearly subscription includes all software updates. I don’t believe hardware updates are included, but don’t imagine they would be needed often. Most of their advances I expect to be in software, which they improved even over the last 6 months.) Looking online I see Veo appears less expensive. Just making sure there aren't hidden costs.

I don't handle the fees, team thing. Think every parent pays $70 for the year. I'm sure the club is somehow involved as I see most teams using Veo.

Does anyone have any opinion on a good option to review and create video clips and reports automatically. Our team bought a Veo camera, but a service like Instat or Hudl assist, if they work as they claim, could make a huge difference and save out coach/parents time in breaking out clips and highlights.
I'm sure their are other options too, but if anyone has some experience with the services or cost that would be very helpful.
