North Carolina also has Rachel Jones from Tophat and Brianna Pinto (though I think she only spent one year here).

I actually think it’s a good no call. The UCLA player flops to the contact.

It was not like he "missed" it. He was standing right there and said no foul. He interpreted it as not a foul. IMO it looked like the UCLA player intentionally ran into the outstretched leg of the Clemson player. They both had a right to a free ball. Now if she was dribbling with the ball that would be a different story.

I didn't see it live, but this happened: Thats a tough decision but the ref committed to it immediately which helps. Even with several replays it looks a penalty to me.

To me, it looked like the defender knew she was beat and raised the left leg because of it... intentionally trying to hender the offensive player from advancing past her in what would have been a goal scoring opportunity.

That is a foul. The offensive player took a great first touch to beat the defender. The defender clearly and cleverly stuck her leg out in an unnatural position to create the contact. Not good officiating.

Not good officiating. Upon VAR and further review... I just realized you can pause it and then go frame by frame rolling your mouse along the line... it's definitely a foul. She straight legs it and raises it to prevent the offensive player from getting past. As 04parent says, it's "an unnatural position, to create the contact". Now with my fingers... I will outline the shape of a box and play (commentary) can begin again.

I actually think it’s a good no call. The UCLA player flops to the contact. Form this angle, clear PK. Easy call. Attacking player controlled the ball and was cutting. Defender lifted up her left leg clearly clipping attacking player who was heading in that direction.

Yeah, I don’t know. Looks like a 50/50 to me-good defending. Ref made the right call…no, it doesn’t have anything to do with the fact I played center back…

Clear foul. Easy call. Ref missed it.

Clear foul. Easy call. Ref missed it. My kid is an attacker. I was a midfielder. She did get a first touch on the ball but it was still bouncing and I would not call her having had a successful cut inside. I would not say that is control. Her first touch (which in practice all of my kids' coaches would have yelled at them for because it was not good control) took the ball towards that defender. I disagree with your assessment that she had control. Mainly my point was that the ref was right there and immediately made his decision. On VAR would someone have overturned it? Maybe. College regular season games do have a limited VAR for certain things. Maybe they need a full one. But I think that the call was not "clear foul" A different angle or zoomed in and slow motion may change my mind but the ref was there looking right at them and made his decision emphatically. Last year there was a big debate about UNC vs Virginia in ACC Championship game. Keeper had her jaw broken in that incident. No foul given. I think these NCAA refs seem to be less likely to give fouls on balls they think no one has control over.

I am pretty amazed/impressed that of the last 8 schools in the tourney 5 are ACC. We have one big 12, one SEC and one WCC team left. This year was a bit different with some conferences at a major disadvantage due to Covid restrictions in their area but still this is amazing.

That is why when I'm governor in 10 years I'll require Georgia Tech to add a women's team and UGA to add a men's team. It will be an unprecedented executive order from a State Governor and will withhold all state funding support until both are satisfied.

That was the best play she could make, a touch forward on a high ball and to faint the defender with the mindset of cutting on the second touch. Easy call. PK. Even if she didn’t have control or possession of the ball, she was clearly impeded from moving forward.

I couldn't watch the FSU/UVA game, but apparently UVA didn't practice PKs prior to the match..
Watched most of the UNC/Santa Clara game -- Santa Clara is a quality team. No athletic freaks, no physical monsters, they play a very good style of soccer. Their midfield and backline are very comfortable playing simple and in tight spaces. They don't play dirty and were impressive in the win. Carolina really could never get anything going in transition, Dellaperuta was very good. I think UNC down 2-1 with about 30 left rested the entire front line for 5-10 minutes, and they never really recovered. Anson took pinto and cox out and the they lost all their attack, when they came back in, the momentum had switched to much and pinto was a non facto. Cox is extremely dangerous when she gets behind defenders, but Santa Clara really never allowed it. Santa Clara was very well organized.
will be a good watch against an FSU team that gets after it.

UVa did so horrible on PKs I could not believe it! UNC was really hurting for players which is a bit shocking with all the depth they should have. Most coaches sub mostly mids and forwards and Anson is the same, but then you see what happens when your starting back line is unavailable...no one has any game experience. Emily Fox was gone (pro), Julie Dorsey gone (lacrosse), Macey Bell out (injury) and I know she played some but was obviously about 50%. So you are left with a single player with significant game experience at defense in Abby Allen. All 3 goals were poor defending or mistakes due to lack of composure (i.e. not enough game experience). I agree Santa Clara is good and played very well but no way this game happens like that with a full strength UNC. I think Anson should sub his defenders more. Then they would have had enough experience. Della peruta did look amazing. She was best player in the match for UNC and playing out of position as an outside back...
