My daughter is going to be a U15 player this year. She is thinking of just doing some private training on the high school off-season and not joining a club this year. This year's club is just not worth the drive for us and she is not being challenged there. We live in rural North Georgia. Our high school soccer program is very good. What should she do? She wants to play in college and wants to continue to improve, but is unsure about which club. Help us! We are in Northeast Georgia, for example Fowler Park in Cumming is about an hour drive for us. Give me some ideas and help please!

If she wants to play in college, I'd highly recommend you play club. I'd reach out to the staff at UFA, I'm sure you can work something out with them if the player is good. Coaches always want good players and probably can accommodate your situation. I've had kids on teams that would miss nights because of the distance they travelled to training etc.

Is LSA or CESA closer to you than UFA?

LSA is about the same distance as UFA-Forsyth unfortunately. Can you tell me about LSA though? It may be a little closer, but I do not know a lot about the club in general.

It is just finding a club that won't kill us with drive time since she will be a freshman in high school taking all honors courses. I wish this was easier. We need a reputable, consistent club in in rural North Georgia.

Privates can only get your so much and doesn't emulate the speed and intensity of a real game. One of my girlfriends was in the same situation as you a couple of years ago and this is what she ultimately did and now her daughter plays for a D1 school in the PAC 10/12/14. She lived between Birmingham and Atlanta, so she got on board with one of the big 5 who practiced 4 days a week. She would come on Monday and Thursday. Monday for the post mortem on the weekend games and Thursday for the tactical solution for the upcoming weekend games. The found a local coach to do privates who collaborated with the club head coach. So on Tuesday n Wednesday that coach would implement the same curriculum as the club coach as best he could. She got to play every weekend and driving a couple of times per week was a much easier burden on them physically, financially and academically. I hope that helps, wishing you and your daughter good luck...🤞🤞🤞 p.s. I would go with UFA given a choice and yes we're from UFA, but it's the better option if both are equidistant from you

Depending on the level of the player most colleges dont even ask about the HS season. We are currently in the middle of recruiting for a 2022. No one is asking about HS season. They know she played, but this about it. So if you want to play at the next level club is a must. Be bold and talk with the club coaches. They will be flexible especially if your player adds quality to the team.

I really don't know much about LSA. I was just throwing out clubs that might be closer to you depending on where you live. I assumed (correctly or incorrectly) that you were likely at Rapids FC currently.

Thanks for all the help! Futsal Gawdess- Thank you! I will look into talking to some of the coaches and seeing if we can work something like that out as well. I agree she needs to play club for sure. Your story just gave me hope! Please, if anyone else has any ideas or suggestions, please send them my way! mightydawg- we ar not at Rapids, currently we are at UFA-Forsyth. Rapids is an option I had not thought of, but have not heard great things about them. If anyone knows anything about Rapids please share that as well, or LSA. Thanks!

All that I can tell you about Rapids is that they finished first in Athena A for the spring and went undefeated at the AFU tournament a couple of weeks ago. Presumably that means that they will play at a higher level next year.

To my knowledge LSA is always short numbers. They do have a rising U17 National League team that has several strong players. If UFA is not flexible for some reason you could try to reach out to LSA to play up this year and next. That team has nice girls on it. We played with some of them many years ago. Historically LSA is flexible because they have to be in order to fill teams.

In most cases club level is just higher and better soccer than high school. I recommend you play both.

Historically LSA is flexible because they have to be in order to fill teams. For the rising U15, they just won the SCCL premier 1 division and will be in SCCL club next season. Their coach is returning and have 14 returning players but looking to add 2-3 quality players. They also just beat the Atlanta Fire SCCL team in the SCCL cup 2 weeks ago.
