Kind of. Heard Nancy at SCCL was having issues with GotSport so there’s still a lot of issues with dates and opponents so don’t write it in pen yet. Most clubs aren’t putting times and fields in yet because they know it’ll change for like the 5th time.

There are a lot of oddities with the schedules where teams play the same opponent in back to back games.

Schedule should be set unless you get a random game with an idiot coach who can’t organize his life and requests a time change on the Tuesday prior. (SSA/Kings 🙄)

The thing that is better than super Y is that games are on weekends and not during week. Also, most games are scheduled for turf, so no rainouts.

We were always lucky enough to play against good talent (same kids that are now in the higher alphabets: DA, ECNL, NPL and now MLSn). I think Super Y was better because you actually had something to play for... the National tournament. The competition was generally pretty high.
Now those clubs have killed Super Y in Georgia and they offer these summer "friendlies" that mean nothing. Hell, teams don't even bother showing up to games or bother to communicate. With USL governing Super Y, that didn't happen because clubs didn't want to pay the fines. What a sh*tshow.

It's going to be a typical summer league. Some clubs encourage players to play and others do not. A lot of people will be traveling, so rosters probably won't be the same from game to game. The teams that have larger rosters will be fine, while teams with smaller rosters might have trouble fielding teams.
We played Super Y for 3 years and I can only recall 1 weekday game...and it was a makeup. Yes all SCCL Summer games are scheduled for weekends, but as the season moves along, that might change. Of our 8 games, 6 are currently scheduled on grass so we might have rainouts. Also, some games might need to be rescheduled due to lack of players (our first weekend was already postponed).
One nice thing about Super Y. We never had to travel to Birmingham for a game.

Super Y was nice because there was competition and a drive to get to Nationals but it’s just another season.
I do wish if SCCL is going to keep Summer league they would do away with 11v11 and move to small sided and make it all 7v7. You can keep the full size goals for like U15s, otherwise use the U10/12 goals for everyone else.

Maybe there was a miscommunication but I can say in the years playing Super Y... never had that happen.

Tell us either side or both views.. which clubs discourage summer play?

UFA does not encourage it on the girls side and usually struggles to find players at most age groups but they don't discourage it across all age groups. It is more coach dependent. Tophat won't let girls in DPL or GA play. AFU encourages their top players to play summer (at least super Y) not sure if they followed this with SCCL but from friends that went there I would say they did.

Quick peek:
UFA boys side has 2 in the top age (19) bracket and both seem to be led by their Fall coaches..
UFA top age bracket (18) has one out of 2 divisions U16 has 2 brackets with 2 teams across the brackets

Well, Ive heard of at least three games not being played tomorrow that were scheduled because of lack of players available. Yep no Father’s Day trip to busa for us! Happy to have that moved to July. Hopefully the storms stay calm so the other ones game on turf stays scheduled.

You can add six now. Got an email this morning from Concorde that they only had 9 kids. Concorde's other team cancelled both games the weekend before because they only had 7 kids so our first 3 games have been cancelled. Even though Concorde has 7/15 teams in our age group. They should have had less teams and a min # of people on the roster or worked with the SCCL to blackout games during regionals, ODP, etc when they knew they were going to be short. SCCL should also not have scheduled the exact same teams to play games on Sat and Sun. So far, it's been a joke.

I think they just assumed each team would have enough kids to absorb the inevitable player absences due to vacations, camps, etc., but it seems like some clubs spread their teams out too thin and their games are getting cancelled.

For summer league, you need a roster of at least 20. You are guaranteed to be missing at least 2 kids and most likely 4 or 5 every week.
