After winning National League and after winning state cup , a no loss 12-0-2 record , the sincsports computer ranked us 3rd in the final Georgia Standings. Our only two losses came in preseason tournaments to GSA ECNL by 2 and by Concorde ECNL Premiere by two. ( They are ranked 1 and 2).
That is so good for us because when we played them they had practiced year around and we had combined two teams and had three practices together .
Another year together and we will be even better. Thanks so much to Sergio Magana for his tough love .
We now have our U15 tram winning GPL and moving into NL next year as well as a U13 girls team moving up to GOL.
The club is growing.
Living in the Buford /Sugar Hill area ? Try us. Adding quality coaches each season , expanded turf and grass fields, beautifully designed park for you walkers , joggers , cyclists.
One more surprise elite addition for next year and look out …, X
And all this done with 3 CB’s out with various injuries and two OB’s fighting painful foot injuries , a mid playing with a foot injury and the bottom Of her foot the entire year.
We are already 1-0 in NL PRO game. 6 more to go to finish top two and it’s off to nationals.

Keep adding ECNL players and maybe y'all get to the top.

Yes I do. And you do realize we played those two ecnl teams better after three practices than many ecnl teams did after year round training ?

I notice something anytime I say positive things about my club because it isn’t one of the “Power Clubs”. I notice I’m given excuses or negative feedback.
I propose this : we’ve tried at play AFU 04/05 ecnl and AFU 05 ECRL. We’ve been told no.
Anyone want yo scrimmage us just message me. You may beat us but at least we will play you. I’ve heard excuse after excuse why AFU won’t scrimmage us .

This is a great example of why FIFA requires tiers based on “sporting merit”.. teams should have to compete. It’s too bad our federation is mainly interested in maximizing the extraction of money from wiling suckers who are all told their league is best.

It is a good team. There are some very strong players that are on that team that I have known for close to 10 years.
It is hard to get teams to agree to scrimmages sometimes. I am always surprised at how hard. Might I suggest CESA ECNL and ECRL as options? And next season they should go to the CESA friendlies. They accept USYS National League teams. Several others have gone.

If you look around I think you’ll find that all clubs get that treatment from time to time — some a little less than others. It comes and goes in waves. Just ask AFU, or Tophat parents. GSA has taken a beating lately. CSC… I mean Concorde Fire South, is probably hoping that no one brings them up, and their play style anytime soon.

I can tell from all your posts you really care about your child and are very involved which I think is very cool but I don’t think you need to bash a team because they don’t want to play you. If it was really that big of a deal, I’m sure those girls would figure out a way to play each other in an alley to settle the score but they probably could care less.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think AFU owes you a scrimmage or game?
They’re ECNL, and neighbors, what good would come from them playing you all? Is their a positive side for them or just for All In?
Both sides have to have a reason especially with the 22 ECNL league games they have to play between August and December, plus preseason tournaments and ECNL showcases. Oh and HS ball starts in less then a month too.
Just because you’re desperate for games since NL only gives you what 10 or 11 games doenst mean they want to add more games.

My kid is not ECNL but I'm familiar with the # of games and amount of travel they do, so that was my first thought - what benefit do they get from playing a scrimmage like that? Imagine being one of their parents and you're so happy to finally get a weekend off from soccer and traveling . . . to then hear your coach say he's scheduled a scrimmage. "why coach?" "oh well they asked because they need some games and, you know, we wanted to be nice neighbors." "yeah we won't be there, sorry coach."

Seems like an odd time to be complaining about friendlies. I cannot think of a reason why a U15 and above team would be looking for friendlies from October through April. In the preseason, yes. In the early part of the season to help prepare for season, yes. If you are going to nationals, I could see looking for games in April, may and June to get ready. But now, no.

Our ECNL team will have played 36 games from August to early January and then head right into high school season. We have 4 players CURRENTLY out with ACL's, two nursing ongoing ankle injuries, and one out with a pulled hamstring. We can barely field 11 for required games. Ain't no time for scrimmages. That's just asking for more injuries.

Not to pile-on, but… On top of all of that the coach of those two particular teams is also the Executive Director of Coaching with added responsibilities.
I’m familiar with many of the girls on your team; they’re skilled, focused, and determined. Further, they’re lead by one of the best coaches in town. I’ll also add that the team culture is welcoming, and perfect for a girl that is tired of the cliquish atmosphere of some high level teams.
However, finding teams at the level your girls are at, that also need friendlies may be challenging. I wish I knew more about the soccer organization landscape to help.

I think the issue with ECNL and GA is examples like this. There are good reasons why some very good players choose to not play in those leagues. Maybe other factors such as team chemistry and coaching in a smaller club provide a better environment for development, even if a league like NL Pro is not as shiny or exclusive. No doubt this particular team is better than some ECNL or GA teams, and would give local teams in those leagues a much better game with less or no travel. And in leagues based on merit they would likely have at least couple more top players from other Atlanta clubs. Two FL ECNL teams are not even close to being competitive, so why is it better to travel to play them and not play better teams close to home? But it's just cost effective and logistically convenient for a big club's top teams to be in one place; that's what those club to club leagues offer to big clubs with exclusivity to corner markets. Miss the old days if you take out the drama. End of the day, no league can be competitive enough if it's not inclusive or merit based no matter what they say. It is just one of several examples why the current system is flawed at so many levels.

Imagine a division on the 2005 Girls with (alphabetical): AFC Lightning GA AFU ECNL All-In NL Pro CF Platinum ECNL CF Premier ECNL GSA ECNL Roswell Santos DPL Tophat Gold GA Tophat Navy GA UFA ECNL Consider the competition in a double round robin and the travel (lack of). Would that be so bad?

I've heard of things like underhandedly taking over a facility to pulling up rec soccer signs/placards at AFU park and replacing them with All-In rec signs.

History: Mark (can't use MM since Mirza and Mark are both MM) was the EDOC at AFU before he was released from his position by GH and BOD. Mark then created All-In. Mirza was left at the helm while GH acted as EDOClub and BOD President. GH was then relieved from his club responsibilities by AFU BOD and Mirza was made EDOC.

It is just one of several examples why the current system is flawed at so many levels. While I agree with you in many ways I think the next post after yours also has an excellent point as well. They forgot SSA on their list but the reality is that there are likely 10 teams locally currently that can compete decently against each other. If we went back to the merit based system there would likely be 4 teams that would qualify for this merit based league and recreate a hierarchy and incentivize people to gravitate towards those 4 teams which takes many of those kids out of their local neighborhoods and increases daily travel to practice. It also makes kids and parents potentially deal with mean and bad and lying coaches to be on those 4 teams and leads people to suffer in silence with few recourses or options if they want to be "elite." In the current system you have (for the 05 age group which is the point of this thread) a team in Sugar Hill, Duluth, Cumming, Atlanta (2 concordes), Peachtree City, Lawrenceville, Roswell, Marietta/Kennesaw (2 Tophat and SSA). This covers North, South, East, West and Central. There are many options and thus people can get team chemistry, development and good coaching because they have some choice! Devil's advocate position.

I was responding to the person who said if we keep adding ecnl players we’ll get better. Also it goes back to last year when someone posted we should try to get a friendly with AFU.
We used to play at AFU and I know right now they are trying to get our best players to come there so we’ve simply asked their 05 Ecnl and 2nd 05 team to have a friendly with us. We were told AFU doesn’t schedule friendlies.
That is not true. They should admit they just won’t schedule us instead of saying something not true .

The better question is if it's good for the game. And there is no doubt competition is great for the game and the players when is among teams. Competition among leagues however is a whole other conversation, and becoming a worldwide debate.

With all do respect to Honeybadger, the original post screams of a "club inferiority complex." If you are happy where you are, be happy. If you aren't, move to an ECNL club or some other club. It sounds like your kid's team is doing well. And, the new club is a great option for those not interested in whatever the ECNL, etc. clubs offer. Reading into pre-season scrimmage results (e.g. "we only lost by 2 goals") is, respectfully, nonsensical. Perhaps the result would have been 5 goals but the ECNL coaches were, hopefully, assessing talent during these nonmeaningful games and/or the ECNL teams didn't put the peddle to the metal for whatever reason. Meanwhile, due to a potential inferiority complex, it perhaps was your clubs World Cup. I just say this bc it will be a long long soccer career for your kid(s) if you (likely not them) are searching for respect with this sort of analysis. If the kid is happy, improving, having fun, great--screw what other people think. (Now if someone is dishing on your club, perhaps your original post would be a bit more appropriate.) If this is simply a recruiting mechanism, be careful you don't recruit your kid off the team! Good luck and enjoy the ride.
