I know this is in another thread, but what a disaster failure again by the federation and the coaching staff that you think you need the gimmick of cold weather to win a game and to keep Hispanics out of the stands.
It's flat out embarrassing and disgusting--
even Stephen A is questioning the coach
It seems every time we take 1 step forward, we then take 2 steps backwards.

It's flat out embarrassing and disgusting-- even Stephen A is questioning the coach It seems every time we take 1 step forward, we then take 2 steps backwards. Is that really the reason that they chose the cities that they chose? I assumed that because the middle game was being played in Ontario that they chose locations close to Canada to cut down on the length of travel. To be guaranteed warm weather, would have had to go to Florida or California. Choosing the northern cities, it is Columbus to Toronto to St. Paul instead of Orlando to Toronto to San Diego.

nice nugget from Grant Wahl "U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter, who has a big influence over where games are scheduled, has said putting these home qualifiers in St. Paul and Columbus helps cut down the travel time to and from the middle qualifier against Canada in Hamilton, Ont., but that doesn’t make much sense either. The USMNT always flies on crazy-nice charters, which means flights to and from Florida would hardly be onerous. And they’d be able to train in quality conditions as well. There’s a reason the team’s December camp was in Southern California and its January camp has been in Phoenix." grantwahl.substack.com/p/friday-newsletter-us-soccer-choosing

Saw something on Twitter a minute ago about the coldest games the USMNT have played in since 1999: Sunday's game vs. Canada was the coldest at 22 degrees at kickoff. Prior to that, they played in 3 games starting at 29 degrees. Forecast per weather.com says kickoff will be around 2 or 3 degrees.

Stooopid. But I’ll watch… and be warm.
How many of our players go “tough guy” with short sleeves? Tonight’s a good day for the keeper to bust out the sweat pants like the 🇨🇦 keeper (hoser) wore last week.

I’d like to see the team bust out lime green Speedos with the flag in the rear… Whose with me?!🥶

This looks cold. The only thing worse than playing in it is sitting the bench and coming in stone cold.
Why the heck aren’t they wearing tights? That’s just foolish.

I think we also would have won in Charlotte and avoided pain and misery.

I didn't think they would actually do it since the water would turn to ice before it hits the ground. Crazy! I mean... they are already playing basically on concrete, right? Or does the field have heaters??

USSF needs to move to warmer climate, period. We've seen too many USNT games with snow. When there's the warm and sunny southern half of the country. Too many games in Ohio.

Sports radio is saying the rumor is Greg scheduled this location b/c he was mad about the previous game in Honduras (the conditions). Apparently something happened…

I get the gamesmanship and all. We've had to play in the middle of the afternoon in July in Honduras, etc. But if the main objective at the start of the game is that you hope no one gets seriously hurt, pulls a muscle or gets hypothermia (oh, wait that did happen) so their club team is pissed and secondly that you get a win then might want to rethink things.
Not to mention the pitch and player slow down. Which plays right into hands of a team that is going to bunker due to inferior players. Good thing Acosta was able to deliver some good set piece balls because all three of the goals game from free kicks.

This is all true, however I will also say that July middle of the afternoon in Central America is also a weather related illness waiting to happen. We don't take heat illness seriously enough in the highest level of sports. Hypothermia of players running around (not lost in the snow) is easier to treat than heat stroke. But NEITHER IS RIGHT FOR THE PLAYERS.

They are playing it in winter so hopefully no snow. Maybe that is the reason that USA was using winter cities for qualifying--to get prepared for a winter World Cup.
