soccerparent02 and soccergurl : Sorry for the overdue response. For anyone interested. I have never heard of any program other than a professional trial (17/18 YRS) we have arranged abroad and domestically - that offers to cover ALL expenses for International training/ development. To train at a top facility with UEFA PRO, A and B licensed international coaches, sport psychology, uniforms, room, board, games, max of 18 players per team and transport with Pro Club Mentorship such as Dortmund, Schalke04, Dusseldorf, Leverkusen, Cadiz, etc... is expensive. Profit margins are minimal. I know because I personally cut the checks and balance the budget. Our focus is to introduce players to International Competition and Pro Environments abroad, not as a team but rather come in cold, not knowing each other. To build a unified team, filled with player confidence and resilience, technical and tactical prowess. If International play is the goal, it's important they experience and see what that looks like. The speed of play, physicality, focus and discipline is extremely demanding. Style of play, and even tactical approach is much different. If one looks at the amount of players who have crossed over from the US, please research, you will find - every summer they traveled abroad to test and expand their skill set, showcasing their talent. We have also sponsored players in excess of $70,000 in the last couple of years due to player need and our deep belief in their talent. Many currently sitting in Pro Academies now, as result of their training abroad. This is NOT against local development, but rather compliment. The game is simply much different abroad and if that is the focus, then they must face International opponents because that is their competition. Additionally, it surprises me so many people assume coaching/ club mentorship should be a free resource. This is quite shocking as I only assume they would not like to work for free. If that is the case, there is a lovely house I would like to build....for free. Coaches work hard, develop their talent and education on their own dime. Licensing is EXPENSIVE and time consuming. UEFA Licensing is nearly a month course in Germany - through the DFB (German Football Federation) and very hard to pass not to mention with plane ticket can run $7000 through GSD/ DFB. Europe does NOT have a pay to play structure due to Govt. assistance and support. Coaches are also financially supported through govt. (taxes in Germany are at about 40% of their pay). Not so in the US. It is up to the community and families to have such services. I suggest the "guilty of complaint" parents appreciate the effort, dedication and hard work Clubs and Coaches give, rather than consistently diminish their value and expect it all to be for free. That is what REC SOCCER is for, not competitive. Fields, electricity, ground care, equipment, salaries, all cost money. It is not cheap, we know, we ran a club successfully for years. Coach Eddie even cut his own pay by half to give more money to his coaches. THAT is dedication. Word to those who constantly criticize club fees and costs, VOLUNTEER to lower costs! PLEASE, look at your coaches and be thankful for such kind, supportive and caring people who do the work because they love the sport and wish to share that love and knowledge with your children. The accountants and board members who SQUEEZE every penny to provide scholarships for families in need and townships/ local community volunteers who keep the lights on and gates open. WE SEE YOU AND THANK YOU! TEAM CLUB and COACHES HERE!

Has anyone had any experiences with Global Soccer Development? Seems to be an interesting concept and noted that Atlanta Fire just recently established a relationship with them. Any insight both positive and negative is appreciated. They do a nice job of describing themselves on social media but wanted to see if anyone had personal insight too. Hi! I wanted to verify that my son has been on three GSD tours and was recently selected for Duisburg. GSD is a top notch soccer abroad program that go above and beyond to take care of their players while abroad and give them the opportunity to compete against Pro Academy European teams. This is not just a “money making” scheme, just as paying your ECNL club/ MLSnext fees are expensive. Trust me, this is Look at Eddie Loewen’s resume. Your son will be humbled by the level of play, and in turn they will grow as a player. Every year my son has been he has said that it has been a “re-set” for him. He comes home loving the game ever more and wanting to continue to challenge himself. And yes, the better players are selected for Duisburg, which becomes a goal for many players to achieve. This is the real deal. Amazing competition. Amazing staff. And yes, like any player, in any sport, if you are good, you will get seen by the right scouts. 10/10 program all the way around, which is why my son ( ECNL) has played with them for 3 years.

Despite the obvious capitalism at play - that sounds awesome. Hope you guys have a great experience. We’re hoping the coaching is at least top level and the experience is what makes it worth the money. We’ve done some GIS things in the past up at Darlington/Rome and down in Orlando that were similar pre Covid that had quality top level coaches but like Disney you’re paying for the experience not the soccer/amusement park. This is the post than needed a two year throwback. How was the experience?
